Football writers - Gerard better than Yaya - reasons?

So the mighty football writers think that Gerard has had a better season than Lampard. I will grant them another Liverpool player as winner - Suarez - being a reasonable act.

But no neutral person in their right mind would vote for Gerard over Yaya this season. So there must be ulterior motives for this. Either there is an inherent bias toward Liverpool among the shameless football writers.

OR as Yaya suggested there is an inherent bias against him because he is African, and doesn't get the credit he deserves. Why is this not questioned?

It does matter to Yaya, who believes there is a racial motivation to him getting overlooked for these awards
I am not sure about that but it does seem rather ludicrous to award it to gerrard over him

I think it is more a love affair with Liverpool and the fact that slip up is a local boy. Less so than yaya being African. He's be ignored if he was German, Spanish or french too.

That's actually proof that the cunts are not neutral in their views on football.

Suarez has an argument for the award, Gerrard has absolutely no case whatsoever. They are trying to award Gerrard for being Gerrard, nothing more.

That is just not right at all.

Its not an anti Toure or racism problem, its just down to how everyone loves Liverpool so much. That's all.

It's because they get so wrapped up in their own hyperbole that they forget what is real and go with the fashionable vote instead. Someone says Gerard is having a great season and it catches on.. He's been average as he has been for years.

I'm not so sure mate. Not one of my hobby horses but I think it's subconsciously 'good old Stevie, good English boy'. Whether the fools ctaully realise it or not they are effectively saying 'yeah Toure plays better but he's from Africa and plays for City'.

you and i are locked in arms on this point.

I'm up to my neck in the "we've won it already" attitudes and it's scaring the shit out of me.

We can only beat ourselves and i can tell you we're the best at doing that this season, even withstanding the Scouse capitulation last evening.

cheers

He's had a decent season (double figures for assists) but he hasn't had a Yaya season. Yaya has more league goals from open play than RVP.

Am not even being irrational most of the time, just recognise that there is a chance we still don't win this and by going overboard we risk looking as silly as a scouser in a suit.

If that was the competition requirement, he'd be up against stiff opposition in Giggs.

I'm an atheist, but I do believe in the gods of football and I wish people would stop poking them with a stick. Look what happened to Liverpool. The 'we're going to cock this up and everyone will laugh' is much safer
