The Weeks Games

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

The Weeks Games

Postby Beefymcfc » Sat Apr 19, 2014 8:32 am

This weekend starts with Spurs trying to put pressure on Everton & Arsenal for that 4th place, then followed by quite a few mid-table dead-rubbers. Fulham and Cardiff could go themselves no harm by winning their games but I think it's going to be a tough ask for the Cottagers to go to WHL and get anything. Cardiff, who gives a feck.

Can Sunderland fight like they did against us? Chelsea could go top today prior to the Dippers playing tomorrow and who's to say any of them will win. It's that time of a season where teams will at least have a little fight and nothing is assured.

Probably the biggest game, football wise, will be the Toffees v Rags game. Everton, fighting for 4th will be well up for it and it will be dubbed 'The game of 2 managers; old and new'. God I hope Martinez wallops them.

And we all know how this weekend finishes. Is there a hope for us, we'll just have to wait and see.

Today

Tottenham v Fulham 12:45
Aston Villa v Southampton 15:00
Cardiff v Stoke 15:00
Newcastle v Swansea 15:00
West Ham v Crystal Palace 15:00
Chelsea v Sunderland 17:30

Tomorrow

Norwich v Liverpool 12:00
Hull v Arsenal 14:05
Everton v Man Utd 16:10
In the words of my Old Man, "Life will never be the same without Man City, so get it in while you can".

We need Chelsea to win today ; that way , the remain interested and motivated for their visit to Anfield. Norwich/Scouse is just a case of how many Suarat feels like scoring . Totally clutching at straws, mind , 'cos I'm pretty sure we're toast whatever happens.

I think Chelsea winning today is a foregone conclusion. The usual Sunderland will turn up and shift in 2 or 3. By usual I mean except when they play City !!

Super Sundays are all well and good, but do they make up for so many Shitty Saturdays during the season? Yet another Saturday with barely a match worth bothering with. it seems like we practically never play on Saturdays any more.

Humph.

Is that a new tagline Sky are using.

Imo actually the best possible footie weekend is that we play Saturday 3pm kick off and all the other interesting games are on Sunday
But true, unless we play on Sat they can be pretty uninspiring

They are safe as houses now though...

It's hard to know whether these teams are more dangerous fighting for their lives, or with safety guaranteed and in great form

I actually hope Chelsea win tonight. If they drop any more point before the Liverpool game it is over for the and will put all their eggs into the CL basket. Our best hope is a draw there and hope that Liverpool bottle it and a tired Chelsea slip up after that game.

Reading that back, I am clutching at straws.

Very amusing replies. Cheers. :)

But yeah, it seems that unless City or another Top 4 side (Chelsea, predictably winning at the moment) are playing, Saturdays these days seem utterly devoid of interest. But that's a side product, no doubt, of us actually being one of those Top 4 sides nowadays. I probably shouldn't complain. Back in, say, 2005/06 today would have been gripping because it's all the mid table sides and relegation sides playing vying for fifth or survival, or whatever, and we'd have been in there. I suppose it's the "downside" of us actually having a really good team.

Chelsea 1 Sunderland 1 now. Could be more interesting than I bargained for.

A set piece from Sunderland.

I miss our set pieces at the moment. A Yaya special would have come in handy at Liverpool, or at home to Sunderland.

If it ends in a draw and chelsea beat liverpool are we not right back in it?

I think what we're hoping for is that chelsea drop two and Liverpool three presuming all other games are won?

Where is the statos when you need them?!

Ha. I think we're at the stage where we just need Chelsea and Liverpool to lose, though some psychologically damaging results wouldn't go amiss too.
