You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline. It helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer.

Valencia’s Alvaro Negredo has spoken of his poor relationship Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini, and his happiness at returning to La Liga.

Negredo started well under Pellegrini but fell out of favour in the second half of the season, with injuries restricting his involvement.

Negredo revealed in an interview with AS that he needed to leave the Premier League to rediscover his passion for the game. "I needed to come back [to Spain] so I could feel like a footballer again after months out. Now I've returned, I can see the light,” he said.

Negredo then reflected on his time at City with fondness, although he was less willing to discuss former Coach Pellegrini in the same light. "The experience [at Manchester City] was very good. I loved City as a club, but after January the Coach stopped counting on me, in spite of the fact that I sustained a shoulder injury," he added. "I even went to a clinic which was attended by rugby players, and they applied this special bandage [on my shoulder] because Aguero had been injured in a previous match against Tottenham and the Coach forced me to wear it. "I was not comfortable and the pain was unbearable, but I went through with it. "When the Coach started playing Dzeko I never regained the Coach's confidence, even after making a full recovery."

What I get out of that statement is, that he fully recovered at some point & still managed to score zero goals. Good riddance! And for £25m as well, what a great fuckin' deal!

Where did you get that he fully recovered at some point from what he said? I think we've missed him this season. I do agree that we got a great price for him though.

But did we actually got or will get that money?

Valencia can send him back packing if he doesn't perform well in this season with them.

No they can't. It's a loan with an OBLIGATION to buy, which has been confirmed both by City and Valencia. So we have effectively sold him but it won't show on either clubs books until the next financial year.

Did not know that. Cheers.

Well that is excelent then. Sad that he did not spend more time here, but if we sold him, then we need to buy someone new. All the best to the lad there. His respect for the club speaks volumes for me.

Oh shit yeah, missed that.

To be fair to him he only got 5 starts following his injury.

Doesn't it only become obligatory if they qualify for the CL?

Them damn contracts!

No, there were quotes from Negredo recently in Marca saying that was the case but Valencia have since corrected him.

The word obligation to buy was clear when he was shipped out. A good deal.

He was shite from January onwards so to get £25m for a non-scoring 29 yr old wasn't a bad deal tbh. Appreciated his first 6 months at City when he was banging them in, but since January he looked like a ringer out of the crowd he was that bad, and the whinging at Pellegrini is getting Richards-like in looking for excuses, instead of looking at himself.

The question is why did they pay that much?

Yeah, of course, we will get the money in monthly payments, but why pay that much for a striker who had some terrible months + was injured another 3 months since he got there.

Saw him last week with Levante, he was okish, but still. Weird deal

A fine player and, for a time, it looked as though he was the centre-forward we'd needed and had waited for, for so long.

I'm just sad it all seems now to have gone so sour; just wish we had someone like him in the team today.
