Cup Final Friday Training

3 days in a row now leading up to hopefully the first silverware of the season.I wonder what the scum will be doing this weekend.Basically the same group out today except the young lads were missing ( training on the other side) and Lopes was added back.So it was 19 plus keepers after the ones carrying injuries went back inside.

A less intense day was what I expected and what I got but still another good session.Much of the warm up stuff apart from stretches was done with the ball and then moved onto the keep ball circle stuff.3 circles to start with and then one big one around the center circle. They had lots of fun playing this with the usual arguments bout who should be in the middle when there was a misplaced pass or poor control.Silva was the target on one occasion with everyone having a laugh and it ended with Aleks going over to give him a kiss and show him to the middle.

I wandered around to see 10 of the youth boys working and noticed Txixi ( I should have looked up the spelling) was watching both sessions at times. He was there yesterday too I am sure but too far away for me to recognise. Then it was time for a match. It turned out to be on a 5 a side scale pitch and the group split into 3 teams of 6 with Lopes missing out.Only 4 outfield players at a time but with rotation to bring the other player in. 2 touch I think with the first goal deciding each game.

Micah hit the post early on but it was Vinnie scoring first after a Silva shot rebounded straight to him close to goal. The next game was won by a Milner strike and so was the one after that. All 3 games won by the same team. And they won the next one with a Nasri finish so they kept staying on as winners.Milner even completed his hat trick in the next one so MP took them off to play the othet teams against each other.Aleks applauded the winning team off the pitch,he was one of them:)

The two other teams just played on and goals were scored by Negredo 2, Micah,Navas,Yaya and Edin. One of Negredos was like the turn which lost Michael Dawson.( MD hasn't fully recovered since) Micah's was a backpost header where he threw himself at the ball.Maybe he would have scored anyway but I reckon the defenders saw him coming and though better of getting in the way.

Golden goal was announced and just after Edin hit the bar ( goal line technology would have been interesting) it was Yaya who finished it off with a cool left foot finish. One of the losing teams had to do a lap and the others press ups watched closely of course by the winners. One more training session to go and then it's off to Wembereley. As I left the players had gone in but the coaches were all together having a chat while one player was getting ready to do some more work.Gael Clichy.

Lescott better start the final considering he has played every minute of the cup run.

Good to see GC putting in the extra training then as opposed to letting his head drop, obviously responding to Kola's improved form and in the last two showings on the pitch it's paid dividends so far!

Sentiment?

No, Wembley against Sunderalnd is tailor-made for DeMichelis. Wide open spaces and hopefully nothing too taxing in the oppo front line.

"Txixi ( I should have looked up the spelling) "

Cheeky, it's easier and everyone knows who you're referring to.

Thanks for the reports Doug.
