I sat and watched Everton play against themselves and score two good OG's on saturday with a toffees fan. He likes stones but said he has a LOT to learn and wont be ready for big game Champions league footy for a few years yet. He thinks Barkley could play in any team in the league but Stones needs a bit of time yet, he is just being over hyped as per the norm for any kids coming through these days.

until we play decent opposition in europe and then he is shite.

He was our best player against Barcelona until Navas and Kompany fucked up to leave him playing catch up against arguably the world's best player.

I always look at the big picture. Him hart and Nasti have cost us Enough points this season. He isn't good enough for us, no point polishing a turd. As an emergency back up he's OK but seems to be first choice which is criminal.

We have conceded too many stupid goals this season that has cost us being first. Thank fuck agent kolo messed up twice in a row at wheelie bin.

Tbf to Demichelis, it's his first season in this league. If he fucks up in the next few games, then it's evidence he's not good enough, but if he remains solid, it's only fair to give him the benefit of the doubt that he's possibly not going to make as many mistakes in the future as he has at the start. Vinny has been much more of a calamity in recent games & lucky to get away with it several times.

Nastasic got away with murder last season (mainly due to charitable interpretation of his performances by fans) & has not improved even 1%. Demichelis has made a huge improvement in recent times, at a difficult stage of the season, under big pressure.

The fact he's a given to start these days with hardly any calls for Lescott shows his value. I for one would be more concerned if Lescott was selected ahead of MDM v Everton. He won't get bullied by Lukako either

I've really got to say, I like MDM, and always have. He always appears to me to have a huge amount of football intellegence, and generally is in the right place at the right time due to this. I think something has changed with the way the defence is being asked to play, it seems to be based a lot more on pre-empting the opposition, than playing reactively. This is in where his game used to fall down being as slow as a carthorse. I also think Vinny hasn't found the new system easy to adjust to, and it's taken quite a while to get it right.

Exactly. Who would you rather have in these last 2 games? MDM or Lescott?

I wouldn't swap Demichelis for Kompany right now; he has been the better of the two recently.

But that doesn't mean he won't fall over & do a Gerrard or pass the ball straight to tthe oppo cf.

That is the kind of thing he does sometimes & always has. When he hits a bad spell, it goes pear shaped. We have seen both sides.

If he's in your team, you best score two, just in case.

De Mich is a lot smarter CB, whereas Vinny is the more old-fashioned in his take-no-prisoners approach; albeit that he can play the ball out of defense, also.
But they've developed into a brilliant partnership; if they'd been in place from Day One we would have won the League, pulling up
Hopefully De Mich is available for a full season next year; unless this Benfica - or Porto - lad we're after is the real deal.

zero to hero in the latter part of the season.

gonna be a big blow to his confidence if we bring in Mangala to partner Kompany, even if he gets rotated in and plays domestic cup matches

Absolutely, he has been amazing in the latter half, I think it was a matter of getting acclimatized with this side.

He strikes me as a truly smart player who learns what is needed and got better with every game.

First to admit, I was wrong on him. I wondered what the fuck we were signing a player who looked slow in Portugal for. But in these last few months he has shown his quality, worth what we paid and more.

I can't get the image out of my head of him taking the piss out of Weimann over the ball that bounced on the line without going in.

one of the biggest turn arounds from a player all season, the shit we all gave him and the amount the press jumped on him too, who would have thought he would go on to be awarded player of the month and become someone we needed and relied on in the run in. Well done that man for not letting his head down and kept going to show hes made of better stuff.
