That's the trouble.
We had a bit of a title hangover at the start of last season & Mancini used it as an excuse to bring in Nastasic, who absolutely didn't deserve picking, especially after a performance v Aston Villa in the League Cup which would have embarrassed Stephen Jordan.
What should have happened, & would have happened under a better manager, is loads of hard work with that pairing, getting them back to 100%, giving them confidence & showing Nastasic what he needs to do when called upon. Instead, Mancini set about publicly humilliating Lescott, such as when he took him straight off after one marking mistake v Ajax & effectively threw the game away by completely fucking up the defence.
Since then, it has appeared that both managers have favoured almost any pairing other than those two, & their partnership is not what it was, due to lack of regular time together. But, you can see parts of it start to happen again as they get used to playing together. If they'd played most of this season when available, I recon they would be solid by now.
Don't fancy Lescott v Barca at all, but if he does play a blinder we all know that Demichelis will be back for the Hull game anyway.
So as SOF says, we have to back him at the games & try to give him confidence, we need the results.
