Some finishing was poor, a couple unlucky and great saves by the keeper but I thought he was v good tonight

Put himself about properly and worked hard for the team and some moments of class.

I've slated him so much in the past I have to give him credit for a quality performance

EDIT...talking about Edin..albeit in the wrong thread!

We could have and hopefully learnt a lesson from the Blackburn team who defended as a unit. I hope they forget how they did that when they come to ours next Weds.

We've seen him start strong and drop off as the game went on, and it often seemed like him and Negrado were playing in different dimensions! Tonight they both worked hard for each other and Edin had a desire and hunger throughout the whole game that we've not seen for a long while.

Garcia had a good game too.

was Marty any good at DFM? (that is where he slotted in when he replaced Yaya, right?)

also, Garcia speaks pretty decent English an he understands it fairly well as well...definitely the best of the spanish speakers (aside from Zaba).

Hard to say really, looked like a bit of a bull in a china shop, fairly poor in possession and we lost pretty much all of our forward momentum when he came on.

Being kind you could say we 'tightened up at the back' somewhat and secured the clean sheet, but west ham were so poor it was impossible to tell.

I disagree with most of that apart from the fact that West Ham had gone by then.

Allowing for the possible wrong impression due to the oppo having caved in, I thought he was good in possession moved well & looked like an option for that job. Our forward momentum was diminished due to the fact that we had 3 centre backs & three fullbacks plus Garcia on the pitch at the same time, six defenders and a defensive mid.

(We still scored a superb goal).

We could save ourselves money and just put a shirt on a wheelie bin and put that in the middle of the park.

Garcia AND Lescott have looked pretty decent in their most recent outings.

I think Martin did well in that position and it probably suits him better (similar to what Mourinho has done with Luiz). IMO he is our best option for that position when (on the rare away occasion) we need to play 3 in the middle or coming on late to hold on to a result.

I just wish Joe Hart could deal with set pieces - Pardew has newcastle set up to work on Joe's weak areas - should've played Costel today!

Dzeko was the player I've been asking him to be in that 1st half. Negredo has wasted two absolutely deadly situations which could have sealed the game. Very similar to what happened with Aguero in the Southampton game.
