Sunderland v Manchester City
Stadium of Light, Sunderland
Sunday 10 November 2013
Kickoff: 14:05PM
Referee: Mike Dean
Assistants: J Collin and I Hussin
Fourth Official: Martin Atkinson
-------
Couldn't be a better time to play them, right? They're really down and we are going on the back of 7-0 and 5-2 ... but they were both at home and questions about our Away form still needs to be put to bed ... and what better place to do it than our bogey away ground. I think we have lost 1-0 at last three visits there (off the top of my head) ...
Here's my line-up:
Panti
Richards - Demi - Lescott - Kola
Yaya - Rodwell
Navas - Nasri - Milner
Dzeko
Reasons for the line-up:
Panti: I think bringing Hart back would (and should) be either in LeagueCup QF or against Plzen at Home (now that we have qualified for last 16 in CL) ... but can be argued that both are important games, one is a knock-out Quarter Final and other is still important as we could use that game to better our goal difference and make the last game against position decider in the group, and might as well try and go top.
Richards: Just rest Zaba.
Demi: He needs more game time.
Lescott: Rotate Nasti.
Kola: Clichy needs dropping, and I mean dropping.
Yaya: Keeps the armm band in Komps absence.
Rodwell: Ferna took a knock mid-week so even if he is fine, rest him.
Navas and Milner: Need I explain myself here? Rest Silva, Aguero and Negredo, keep them on bench if needed and change the shape a litle, use more bodies in midfield away from home.
Nasri: Will be our playmaker this game, and is in good form.
Dzeko: Lone striker up top, as a focal point, just as he likes it and we need to give him a start too.
Score Prediction: The form we are in, we will probably score 3 or 4 and maybe 1 odd goal might go against us but I'd happily take a 0-1 and three points in this one.
C'mon City!
Sunday can't come soon enough!!

I know many will say this is our bogey game, which it has, but this is going to be a real tonking for me, a minimum of 4 goals advantage.
Caveat: If Pellers decides to bring on the League Cup team, I reserve the right to change my mind. Two goals minimum ;-)

Anybody knows who's going where this int'l break? In terms of how many miles they're clocking? I think Komps and Jovetic will be kept in Manchester and won't join their national squads. England plays both their friendlies at Wembley I think ... only Nasri and Clichy have a big game for France in terms of knock-out World Cup qualifier ...

Play the strongest eleven. We are through in Champs league. We can rest players in that. The league is the bread and butter. This is a game on paper we should walk. However it is away and Sunderland will still be trying to impress the new boss so it has the potential to be a banana skin game. If we start to change side too much the players look disjointed together. That was evident v Newcastle. 3 or 4 changes is all we need to make.
Panti
Richards Nasty Demi Kola
Milner Yaya
Nasri Silva (Rodwell if injured)
Aguero Negredo
If we play as we have been lately this could be a massacre. Possibly another 5/6. Sunderland are shit at the back and if we press hard & fast early we will dominate

Fuck this resting players for a league game. Play the best starting eleven and right now that includes Kun, Beast, Silva, Nasri, Yaya and Fernandinho so if they're fit they better start

two weeks without a game after this, so play our strongest team and pull our stars out of the friendlies with phantom injuries

I'd go for this with one exception, Lescott in for Nasti. Would be nice to see how he and Demi work together.

This. Unless Silva and Ferna knocks keep them out in which case I'd bring in Rodwell and Navas.
The last thing I'd do is change the defence.

If the injuries keep them out I'd play Milner and Navas. Rodders on the bench

Not sure about Milner in that role tbh, when he played centrally at Villa he had the security of Petrov and Barry behind him. Rodders is better suited imo and it would be nice to see him get some playing time under his belt.

Guys can we stop putting lescott in the squad in these types of threads. He won't play, many here have banged on about him myself included but he will never start ahead of nasti unless the kid is injured. Lescott is on his way out and I've resigned myself to accept that. He will start cup games that is all.

Agreed. This is the strongest side we have if Kompany is out. Which he is.
