But I'm interested to know why Peter said he would be shite before he'd even seen him - his record in Spain is excellent - typical City fan running down a signing before they've kicked a ball? .

As i said above mate, i watched him week in and week out and he looked at the same level as Llorente, good, but not class, like he will never make the next step. Look at Llorente and what happend to him in the past year. I am impressed of what Negredo did so far because of that reason. The lad wasen”t our first choice, everyone knows we were after Cavani and Falcao, but he came and scored and became a nightmare for every defender..

Before now he looked like a the Spanish league Darren Bent, good, but never class. Good at mediocre teams, but never at top ones.

To be honest, I can see him going through rough patches during the season when he won't score, and I quite certain that many posters on here will sing to a different tune then.
I think he's a good, really hard working player, but world class he ain't. But likewise I think that he is just what we need right now, especially if we play two up front. Dzeko just doesn't work hard enough for the hard pressing game that the Count is aiming for.

Thank god for Negredo once more, could have been worse scenario with Osvaldo and Soldado has not been that great

You are right he was'nt our 1st choice and holding out so long in hope of signing cavani meant we almost missed him too , I think west ham had a earlier bid turned down . We should set deadlines when we target signings and if they begin to look improbable , then swiftly move on . The pursuit of pepe is another example of our eggs in 1 basket transfer policy.

Rarely do you see a number 9 so clearly made for premiership football

The best thing about him is the workrate. He won't always score, no striker does (although there's a couple of wingers in Spain who always do), so the question is what else does he bring when he's not scoring. For Dxeko, that's pretty much nothing, which is the problem with him, despite his decent scoring record. Negredo looks like he'll always be causing problems and creating room for Aguero or the midfielders. If we can get him onto Kolarov's wavelength, he should get on the end of plenty of crosses.

He strikes me as exactly what Mancini wanted when he bought Dzeko - someone who would be a striker, rather than a complete forward like Aguero or Tevez and would give us an aerial threat and a option to hit the ball into and wait for support. With the options we've got, he'd be starting most games for me and then replace him with Edin after 60 minutes once he's battered the centre halves. That'll keep him fresh for the following game.

He'll still be a pain in the arse for defenders even when he doesn't score. Look at the derby. His work rate and attitude are two reasons why we're not missing Tevez.

Agreement for Negredo is total (loan and €25m 2 b paid next season). Now City have 2 finish agreement with Falcao for City to end the puzzle

It would seem it is down to his missus not settling in here. Good luck to him, if true.

Joy to watch the first half of the season alongside Aguero. Good luck to him.

Wont miss the 'beast' chants though

I know there was a lot of denials about it but the homesick rumours just started springing up and now he gets loaned back to Spain.

If we sign Falcao, I think I'll let loose with a girly scream of joy.

If he's definitely going, it's very sad.

I was looking forward to him coming back from injury and firing again on all cylinders.

If that is indeed the deal, Falcao or no, we should take it.

25 million euros for a player of his age and ability is damn good. I like the beast lots but since he hit this dry patch he is in, he's looked... not broken.. but lost... I think for everyone, it's best he moves on.

Not at all for me. IF Falcao comes, he is one of 3 plus Jovetic, who is not a striker as such, Then we find out which partnerships work best.
