NFL style fantasy league

Having just watched a show about it, I wonder how many of you would be interested in a head-to-head, draft style league for our fantasy football.
In short the two big changes from the one we currently do are:
1. Every week you would be against another player, whoever collects the most points from their players wins.
2. If you have Sergio Aguero(for example) on your team, he's your player and no-one elses, removing the identical team syndrome which is a feature of the current set up.
This would be an idea for next season with a limit on the people to a manageable number, not only for the my sanity but because if 50 people joined, we'd run out of players. I think the easiest way for me to organise it is through spreadsheets and if anyone is interested in giving me a hand setting things up, that wouldn't be the worst thing in the world either. Once things are laid out, a mock run to undercover any problems might be handy.
I like the idea of a draft as well, that could be a lot of fun.

Sounds good, would the initial team players be drawn randomly? Then it could be up to teams to trade players between themselves if they wished.

Navas Mike.
I only suggested it a few hours ago and as the rules exist, they don't exist for our league or even sport, so I am working on it.

If done as NFL each team would in turn draft players from the same pool.
Lets say 10 teams in the league, a random ordrer is drawn, the first team in that order chooses 1 player from the entire pool of players. The second team chooses one from the entire pool minus the player the first team bust drafted and so it goes til all teams have lets say 15 players.
Then teams can swap their players for undrafted players through the leagues run time (requests for swaps can be taken up untill next gameweek, if multiple people want same player then one is drawn at random).
You can also swap with other teams if both parties agree. Multiple players can be swapped in deals.
If we get 10 people interested we should start a league right away, use it as a learning league for next season, iron out the rules, do's and dont's:-)
Im available tonight for a chat session to come up with a ruleset if needed. The biggest hassle is the draft cause everyone needs to be online at the same time or it will take ages... Should have 15 players each so -5 draft rounds. Lets say 2m on the clock for each team each round that is aprox 2hrs for the draft to be done.

Except for the "free agent" rule, that's pretty much what I have.
Converting the rule I read, Everyone has a random order set at the start of the season, if two players want the same player then the highest priority player gets to sign him and then drops to the bottom of the priority list.

To get ready the first thing we need is a list of all playerd registered for the PL in an excel sheet, ideally it should be sortable by team and position. Each team has a copy and edits it as players are drafted so they know who's available.
Also we need a excel sheet for the players. Where they can fill in their team as the draft develops.
Should also have a draftmaster/league admin with a log of each player taken each round.

you should go only 14 teams max per league. over that and the teams get too diluted. maybe even 10.
the NFL has 32 teams. basically each team only has their offense available for the fantasy drafts. some backups get drafted.
so thats, let's say, 14 (to be generous) from each team including the defense and kicker. 14 x 32 = 448 players, and thats maybe a little high. and with 14 fantasy teams the squads get a little stretched and the Premier League would have 11 x 20 = 220 players but then there's impact subs so maybe 15 x 20 = 300 players. so, 10 fantasy teams should be the max to avoid having fantasy teams like this: Ozil, Vidic, Vorm, Ross Barkley, Valencia, Luke Shaw, and then all promoted club players.

Really? Who do you think that's gonna be?
Got a couple of ideas, I think it's gonna be some fun.

I ran a league like this back in school about 15 years ago. Thinking back we ran it through something the telegraph offered.
Count me in if this gets up and running

Me and my friends also did something like this years back, we take turns in naming a player from the suns list and star bidding, it was hours of fun sat in the yard drinkingand trying to bid each other up and out

I think that's bullshit. Play to win. If one of them makes your team better then draft them. It's called "fantasy."

In my fantasies they usually all die in an anthrax attack on their training ground and so cannot be drafted into our league. Everyone's a winner. We could have a minutes applause at the start of the season to celebrate their deaths.
If there are too many players for 1 league you could do a championship one and then have promotions and relegations.
Players should put a tenner into a PayPal account and first gets the lot or its split between top 4 to stop people losing interest after 5 games.
I want to play anyway.
