If they keep him against his wishes, a bit of pressure applied by us & Chelsea over the course of the season, especially if the rags were a few points behind both teams mid season, & the whole thing could blow up in their faces.
A stroll like last season & everything would calm down, but if they are really under pressure & struggling to keep with us, I can imagine Balotelli style situations on & off the pitch.
It's upto us & Chelsea to do our jobs properly & keep winning games.

Could be the same at Spurs, Real Madrid know the player wants to come to them, Spurs appear to have spent a shed load of the dough, I would not put it past Madrid to offer 50 mill now they have Spurs needing the dough and a player who has packed his bags and is at the Heathrow Hilton awaiting a call.

I was wondering how that 'urgent transfer business' that Woodward had to rush home from Australia for is going?

And that's why Woodward flew back in a rush after sending Shrek back. Looks like he'd already worked out talks with Chelsea.
But why would the Rags sell to Chelsea? It's very much like the Suarez to Arsenal saga, knowing that if either player moved to Arsenal or Chelsea respectively, then the chances are that it takes them out of contention. Liverpool would have basically handed Arsenal a huge advantage for that 4th place and the same would happen with the Rags.
There's also the Willian specualtion for Chelsea, reportedly jumping in last minute to steal him away from Spurs. If true it looks like Chelsea are not trying to strengthen but trying to weaken their opponents. Spurs have spent well and it could be that Chelsea aren't feeling as positive as they should do with their team. From seeing them play, I can see their point.

As it stands, the rags can't sell Rooney, even if they want to.
They have to find a suitable replacement first. If they just sell him without replacing him, they will be short upfront & also the fans will kick off. But who can they find to replace him now ? Most of the strikers who could have done a job there, have moved already. Real can't sell them Benzema because they would be a striker short.
Suarez would be the ideal man for Utd but can't go there for many reasons. (Suarez IS a rag though, wherever he plays.)
Falcao, Cavani, Higuain, Negredo, Soldado, Lllorente. All gone.
Lewendowski tied to Bayern.

Dear Mr Mourino,
Will you please stop knocking on my door to ask if our Shrek can come out to play. He is not in 'cos he has gone to visit [strike]his[/strike] someone's Granny
Stop being a nuisance and go away, I am very very busy trying to find him some new friends to play with, so go away.
[strike]Retards[/strike] Regards

Better that shrek stay with the rags and sulk for a whole season than go to Chelsea all fired up a score 20 goals.

Skysportsnews yellow ticker says Moyes admits it's possible that Utd may not make any more signings in this window.
I'm shocked.

John , in all seriousness, it was muted a while ago that wooney was off to Chelski. Could you imagine the embarrassment if he popped the winner in at the swamp on Monday? Even big mouth said it's inappropriate to discuss offers before the game.
I still expect wooney to be a Chelski player before the deadline, i'd be surprised if he isn't . I fully expect Chelski to tonk the rags on Monday too, they are due a good battering again

Now we just need Wenger to be honest and say the best the fans can hope for is a last minute 10 million-ish panic buy. (Although Cabaye will probably cost closer to 15)

It will be interesting and tell us much, whether or not Gollum trusts him enough to select him.

From 'No Budget' to 'No Budget' and from 'Tranny, Bale, Thiago, (insert any top player)' to 'We'll be mainly bring the youth through', how must their poor fans feel?
Gutted for them.

They have been a youth-development club the past 100 years so should be busines as usual.

As Gill stated last season (Moyes this), they are happy to be challenging meaning they believe they will be in for a CL spot come May next year. It's like the opposite of Spurs. Spurs see a gap with what is going on at Arsenal and they have spent heavily to try for that top 4 spot whereas the Rags are near guaranteed a CL spot and don't feel the investment is needed. You don't get big statements like 'Challenging' or 'Give him time' for nothing.
Back to your point though, this will be the new line if things drop off a little. You can see it now, 'But we're bringing the youth through, for us and for the future of England'. No word of 'We bought the majority at very high prices' will be mentioned.
Moyes Babes eh, the excuses have started early.
