So now we have a new manager at the helm, and he doesn't
t use the youth once again.
What is the point in having the facilities at city if were not going to use them.
Plus Guidetti will not have a chance at city i'd leave personally, why not give the kid a chance atleast?

I agree. He hasn't featured ONE SINGLE EDS PLAYER in the Premier League so far this season whatsoever.
Everyone out.

Young players will get their chance if they're good enough. Guidetti will get his chance when he's fit enough. We still haven't played a competitive match under the Right Honourable Member for Transylvania and already you're flapping like a vulva in a jacuzzi.
Let the nocturnal cunt get his feet under the table and his system in place first, for fuck's sake.

I think the problem is not as simple as that to fix. The youth development was badly damaged by Hughes. We can argue all day long if Cassell was the right person for the job, but he did produce players that made it in to first team football either for us, or for us to sell to lower league or abroad. So his conveyor belt approach made a profit. Since his removal the management of the youth coaching has been very poor, not one single player from the FA Youth Cup winning squad is still with us and the current teams are not winning many games. There has been a bloodbath over the close season with several coaches losing their jobs and a new team being developed. So it will still take some time for a youth team player to get in to our first team.

I agree with what you are saying but do you really think Guidetti will get a chance in our team behind Aguero, Dzetko, Jocovic, Negredo??
No chance if you ask me, after that season he had when on loan in Holland he atleast deserves a good run in the side.

That was two years ago - and he hasn't been fit since. He owes the club at least as much as it owes him.
And if he can't get in the team in front of a tennis player, he is fucked.

What is pointless about it i was saying how our youth system considering the investment gone into it never gets used.

How did Hughes 'badly damage' it? I wasn't happy with the lack of opportunities youth players had under him towards the end, but I think Mancini handing Boyata 5 starts in all competitions at the start of his tenure gave the revisionists some kind of 'false wind' in this area. I really don't think Hughes had much control over the youth setup once Thaksin left and the new owners cam in with a long-term plan in place. Same goes for Mancini: I don't think he 'messed up' the youth, but I was disappointed by his misleading fielding of Boyata at the start, as I then expected him to be a bit of a risk-taker.

So if you were the manager would you put
injured Guidetti onto the field?

John is in the squad and not in eds. I posted the official squad list awhile back. So maybe he will get chances this season.

If this thread was to be started in 2 - 4 years after an outcome in which we had not seen any players come through the system then it would be really valid. I would suggest that some points to note are:
1/ The 'old' youth system that led to us winning the cup and some players coming into the 1st team or making the grade elsewhere is long gone.
2/ Even when it was effective it was for a team playing at a level far below where CITY's aspirations are
3/ The recent system has been shambolic and
4/ The emerging system is at an embryonic stage
4/ The 'investment' mentioned is happening/planned - not yet made
5/ Even with the 'investment', when the 'infrastructure' of the academy is in place this in itself will not work unless in parallel there is a strategic approach to capturing young talent at a range of ages and bringing them through - this needs to be developed recently/now and that does seem to be the case as evidenced by the recent changes
6/ When that 'system' is in place we should expect it to include criteria of when emerging stars are included in the squad - when they might get mins - when it is decided that they will not make the grade etc.
7/ Existing 'potentials' seem highly limited and with regard Guidetti - after his recent injury record I would guess that he is only thinking what a great club CITY are to be so supportive - he has to get fit before he could be considered.
August 2013 is - IMO - way too early to criticise what seems to be a plan/approach of high strategic quality - one might even say holistic.

The fact that you were not aware of Guidetti's situation and the fact that you cannot even spell Dzeko shows how ridiculous it would be to take you seriously.

Boyata was a strange one. Never really recovered after the red card at Arsenal. Shame as he looked promising.. and had a good song.

I can't understand why he doesn't get a game, Mancini and Pellers mustn't rate him. It's not as if he's had any serious issues or injuries, he's obviously just not good enough.

As Mike rather impolitely put it, Guidetti is still injured.
Not sure how can 'be given a chance' yet!
Rekik is playing in the Dutch League and I expect him to maybe play for us next year.
Not sure if anyone else is or will be good enough to displace a first team player, so why should we pick an inferior player?
"Are we a charity who wants to play youngsters who aren't good enough just for the moral value and lose games, or do we want to win the league?"

Ultimately it comes down to playing the best team available and win trophies. Rather that than play youngsters and not win trophies. Hopefully me can produce some world class talents through the academy.
