PSG entering the race at £85m according to some paper this morning.
If they sell and that is the fee they receive, can they do some serious damage in the transfer market with the huge amount of cash. Or is he irreplaceable for them and they would be going backwards?
I reckon they could do well.
Also £4m bid for Barry? Any thoughts? Sell a player who may well be used less and less, or tell them to piss off, his experience is too important for us sell for a trifling amount?

FFP goes right out of the window with that sort of money, so its pretty much a free for all for big clubs. as for barry 4 mil sounds like a reasonable amount for an older player with one year left

Still no CL football for them to offer for potential targets regardless of what they have to spend.
We must keep Barry, I can see him featuring less next season but his experience will be vital while we're bedding in our new players.

If Bale, goes it will be bad for Spurs, and the Premier League IMHO. PSG, would be my tip to be the team to beat next season with him, as they are strong.

I think Spurs will be better off without Bale, they are a one man squad now, with the money being quoted they could get in some serious talent and build a team.
As for Barry, I am a big fan of his, but the best managers sell their star players before they cease to have a value. If we look across at United how many times have they sold a player that the press said they would not be able to replace only for that player to disappear without trace and their squad get stronger... Hughes, Robson, Inch, Bruce, Stam etc. It is only recently that they have held on to their ageing players and the manager has jumped ship...

Bang on the money on both points IMHO.

When your trick is banging in goals from outside the box, it's easy for that to dry up. I dont see the great player everyone else seems to I'm afraid. In 2 years time he'll be Johnny Ordinary.
As for Spurs there's no way Levi will pay over the odds for anyone. And in England, Arsenal and Spuds will only get players not wanted by us, Scum and Chelski.

No chance. He is a fantastic player and will only get better imo.

I hope that Spurs sell him and use the money to get overall much stronger
I also hope that Arse and Chelsea improve strongly and that the scouse gits start to comeback
I am not worried about us - I want us at the top and the scum to start to drift - the others need to improve to finish ahead of them
Just gutted that we let baconface sneak out on a high

I want Chelsea up there with us, just because we always seem to beat them these days and they are "new money" just like us. They are just one big FUCK YOU to this fair play bollocks.
I want Everton to replace Liverpool and Liverpool to end up in the bottom half of the table.
Spurs to replace arsenal.
The scum to drop off under moyes being replaced by us.
Full on change of the guard. I hate everything the old "big 4" stood for and I want to see Liverpool, arsenal and the scum fucking die as clubs and fuck off to scrape about with the teams they have shit on for the last 20 years.

I agree with this *except the actual teams; Liverpool can fuck off.
The top of the Premier League last season was Utd & City, & that's it. We were average, so it ended with Utd, who were above average.
A two horse race plays into the hands of the rags, as they know how to beat shit teams consistently & we don't. The more serious competition, the more games they will lose & the more fun the league becomes. More big games.
I don't expect to win it every year & it would be boring if we did; I expect us to perform close to our ability & put in a strong challenge each year, & win it sometimes. Last year we handed it over without a fight.
Spurs should sell Bale if they get a huge offer, & that SHOULD mean they become a top side. But what actually happens most of the time is; managers spunk the money on the wrong players & nothing improves, then the manager is sacked.

Two excellent posts. It'd be great if the biggest game of the season became us against Chelsea with no rags, arsenal or Liverpool in sight.

4m for barry and 85m for bale are both mad figures, for respective reasons.
we should keep barry and not let him leave for that amount.
is bale really worth 85m? if they got that much they could do well in the market.

Bale will end up at RM if tranny returns to the swamp leaving Shrek to PSG?
IF Spud's do sell him now, as others have said Levi won't make all that cash available on new players, some but not all of it.
Talking of Spud's have they off loaded Ade yet, are they hoping to?

I agree with this, stronger teams makes for a more exciting premier league and hopefully force us to up our game and not hand over the title in the way we did this year.
I want to win as much as possible but as a football fan id like it to become more interesting. Always hated two horse races when we weren't involved and now that we are despite it meaning higher chance of success for us its still far too boring.
85 mil is silly money and i dont care how good Bale is Spurs should absolutely take this offer and use the money to build the club.

I think I'm in agreement with John, on this one.
Unlike the media, I've never been overly carried away by Bale (I feel he's a good enough player, but not a great one) and if he continues to try and re-invent himself by playing down the middle, I don't think he has the technical requirements needed for that role and to overcome tight marking, in tight situations.
IMHO I think he'll be 'found out', to some extent, in the new season and I could see the new campaign being a disappointment for his many admirers. Spurs might be best advised to sell him now, whilst the going is good, not that Levy will re-invest the total receipts obtained for him, back into the team.
I did like John's description of him being "Johnny Ordinary" in two years time......

If Spurs dont sell Bale then they're not going to improve, Leavy isnt going to have a change of personality and start throwing money around in the way he needs to do to buy players that will compliment Bale. Buying the likes of Gaz Baz isnt the sign of a club thats trying to force its way into the top 4 more like a club thats hoping one of the teams that would be in the top 4 screw up.
If they do sell Bale before the season starts then they're in a good position to buy some good quality that may see them push the Arse out which would be good (even though I'm not keen on Spurs!) however going of past seasons, Leavy tends to leave everything to the last minute so they'll probaby end up without Bale, a big wedge of cash and Gaz Baz or someone like him, will end up mid table if he plays this transfer window like every other one.
With Bale they finish 5th at best again.

Giving Spurs 4m to sign Barry would be pretty good businesses imo.
