All MLS teams wear Adidas.

It's one of those American rules about franchises, etc. If we bought a rugby union team, you wouldn't expect us to field 11 players, just because they were associated with MCFC...

Yeah we run things differently over here. I'm sure Nike would want to have NYCFC wearing kits made by them. It's just not possible as the kit deal is with the league and not individual teams. Besides technically City don't even own this team. MLS is run different from any other league that I'm aware of. It's the only league here that is single entity. Teams are central owned by the league and each team has an investor-operator that is a shareholder in the league. All of the player contracts are with the league and not the individual team.

And the program has worked brilliantly to keep a league alive and actually grow a fan base for the first time in this country. The quality is improving and tho most matches I watch make my head hurt,i feel it is about league 1 level quality on a consistent basis. Which isn't too shabby for america tbh.

It has to be great for Mls to have city involved in things especially with a proper New York based club.Im really looking forward to seeing how they get on when they get going.

Out of interest do you state side blues already have alliances or will you be following Nycfc now?

I support my local club Minnesota United FC they play in the NASL which is division 2. Been a season ticket holder for 4 years now. They were just over in England on a preseason tour and even played some of the kids from the EDS.

Sending them a cardboard cutout of Frank Lampard is a clever ruse.

Works for Gerrard at Liverpool so why not ?

I have had the same question not only about citizens but footy fans all over the states. If you like footy then you probably already support a club, besides the few that will convert, the rest need to be new footy fans without a club.

I'm a union supporter and won't convert. I live 30 mins from the Union stadium. I would be hard pressed to support an MLS team that I live no where near.

My think its a beautiful peice of advertising by citys PR staff to make NYFCs kit the same as city. Building the brand over here in the states.
