That brought a smile to my face.
"I used to be 6 foot 2 with curly hair, look what it's done to me"
"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

Can you imagine trying to convince a ref that a passive Buddhist just kicked you?
Or the concern of the political far right on reading a report that a muslim fundamentalist referee had just blown up and it had kicked off?
Or the sight of 1,000 away Jehova's fans, banging on the home fans' gates to convince them they were supporting the wrong team.
Chants anyone?

Yes there is a slight lack of vision in Saul's statement I would suspect.

All MLS teams wear Adidas.
I'm reading Soriano's book at the moment in which he talks about Barca considering buying an MLS franchise which would play in New York. One of the stumbling blocks was that Barca were Nike and the MLS is all Adidas. Clearly that hurdle has been overcome.
Soriano is a serious asset.

Yes there is a slight lack of vision in Saul's statement I would suspect.
Saul is about 5 years behind on how "soccer" in the states work. The one thing I am disappointed about with New York FC is the hiring of Claudio Reyna. Reyna has been the head of youth development for USSF for the last 3 years. He has made a lot of positive changes to youth development in this country.

So, why are you disappointed with his hiring?

He was talking from the perspective of the national game.

Because I think it could set back youth development. If the proper replacement isn't put in place. I think its a great hire for NYFC. I just don't care about that team and never will. I support my local division 2 team. I follow the MLS as a league but I am not a fan of any team.
