He is EXACTLY what we need.

We need a number 9 and a winger thats it plus back up for centre half. I am 100% he is gonna be a great signing, however we have as with Mancini a lob sided look to the squad until we get a sUperstar C/F and some natural width, 34 mill when I am sure The special 1 would have said yes to Luiz at 30 mill, 8yrs in the Ukraine, who does that and rips it up, even if he did its 2/3yrs and he is where Barry is now for 34 mill, sorry Ted to much dough. Cavani or similar season for me.

We probably could have had a couple of full stops chucked in with the £34m too!

He was good when he got here and seems to just get better.Best in the league in the position he plays but he is much more than a holding midfield player.

I don't think anyone can really argue with the price tag now.World class player. It would be unthinkable for Brazil not to have him at the world cup this summer.

Top class player. Never stops working, incredibly quick closing down players and on the ball, good technical skills, smart positioning, and very unselfish.

Type of player you want along side you and an excellent partner for Yaya.

seems like he struggles at times between being a holding midfielder and a box-to-box stormer that we saw today.

today was by far his best performance for us and not just because of the 2 goals. he is growing into his role and into the squad. as the season progresses i hope he just gets better and better.

I'm so glad he has showed the doubters a thing or two about football. Patience is a virtue. The Brazilian has arrived.

I hope he's taped the Bayern and Arsenal games and then sends them to the Brazil boss - he needs to be there.

no kidding about Brazil - the spurs game said it all - he ran rings around sandro and paulinho, the two standing in his way at the moment. and fernandinho has only gotten better since then. is it too early to start making some noise about him being in contention for our player of the season?

selfishly i hope he doesnt go. dont need him to possibly be knackered and injured next season.

although, representing Brasil on home soil would be an honor for him

really turning out to be a great signing. really glad for him with all criticisms regarding the price we paid.

he's exactly what we needed as an upgrade to a declining barry, who of course had been key to our previous success.

Brazilian Fernandinho was named man of the match after his two goals form midfielder and Pellegrini was quick to praise his display:

"He is a typical Brazilian midfielder, he plays very well with the ball, he has a lot of pace - he gets forward well," he said.

"He's doing very good work with Yaya Toure and I'm very happy for him.

"Fernandinho played a perfect game in all senses, not just his two goals but he recovered a lot of balls and had a lot of pace.

"I am very happy for him but you will see how good he is over the season - he will get better every week."

Unbelievable not in the Brazil squad. Their press never mention him. Maybe it will work in our favour and he has to play even better just to be talked about being in contention.

Astonishing how Sandro & Paulinho to just name 2 are ahead of him for Brazil. If he has even just 10 more games playing like he has been by seasons end he must be a shoo-in. In reality he will just get better and better as season progresses
