Yes it's the Mirror but if even the slightest thought of this entered the heads of the powers that be I'd be very, very pissed.

Rodgers that! Manchester City want Liverpool boss to replace Roberto Mancini

27 Apr 2013 23:00

Irishman was on the Blues' wanted list a year ago - while Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez is also in the frame

Brendan Rodgers is the shock name in the frame to replace Roberto Mancini as Manchester City manager, writes the Sunday People.

The Liverpool boss has significant behind-the-scenes support at the Etihad despite a hit-and-miss first season at Anfield.

The Blues power-brokers believe the 40-year-old Irishman fulfils all the criteria they deem essential – like a willingness to blood young players early, media skills, and European experience – and the ace in his pack is that he is fluent in both English and Spanish.

Rodgers was City’s first choice a year ago when he was at Swansea and Mancini was on the ropes – before the dramatic turnaround that saw his side crowned Premier League champions.

Now the Irishman is back on City radar, with Mancini not safe even if he wins the FA Cup next month.

Rodgers has two years left on his Liverpool contract so City would have to pay compensation – but that won’t deter them.

Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez is also a live contender for the City post – sources close to the Spaniard say he is desperate for the job.

But it’s the pursuit of Rodgers, just a year into his Liverpool career, that will raise most eyebrows.

Call it a taunt from a licker only willing to apply unnecessary roughness on smart people educated on tabloids, but:
how on hell hiring a proved loser fat waiter or an unproven apprentice of Mancini's style would be an improvement, other that on Rags' wishful thinking?

Since Mancini made the original sin of replacing Taggart's Cuddly Toy, thousands of rags editors have been busy on fabricating shit like this, and oddly enough, a dozen of City fans have been as much busy on echoing it on here.

How long shall it last?

to be fair rodgers does have a connection with mancini - he was bob's first choice to be his #2, but he didn't want to leave swansea, so we signed david platt instead. we also more or less play the same style rodgers would love to be playing at liverpool.

all that being said, this is bollox of the highest order. there is a story running in another rag that 100% disputes this btw - that mancini is already safe regardless of what happens in the final.

Yes, it's not only me and You in the knowledge of it, so that makes it even more odd.

All bollocks.

Roberto Mancini will be manager next season regardless,FACT.

Cavanni is going to PSG done deal. And we have already put the feelers out for Zlatan Ibrahimovic Roberto Mancini is prepared to break the bank for him.He says is his type of player and has worked with him before.

Could all be bollocks, but this rumor is doing the rounds and is pretty strong.

Don't know how i feel about Zlatan Ibrahimovic.I feel a bit underwhelmed if i am being honest

All bollocks , I think all these shitty Jurnos sit in a room an scratch each others balls of and write whatever they feel.

Sun has agreeable news about Mancini staying.

[highlight]ROBERTO MANCINI will be Manchester City’s manager next season — even if they lose the FA Cup final.

Speculation is rife the Italian could be axed after a disappointing defence of the Premier League title.

But SunSport understands Mancini has the full support of new City chief executive Ferran Soriano and sporting director Txiki Begiristain.

The trio have already been making plans for next season to significantly strengthen the squad in a bid to get the title back from rivals United.

Most importantly, chairman Khaldoon Al Mubaraak still backs the man he chose to replace Mark Hughes in December 2009.

Victory for City against Wigan at Wembley on May 11 would be Mancini’s third trophy in three seasons with two FA Cups and last season’s title.

In the wake of that title triumph last May, Mancini was given a new five-year deal.

Some saw the arrival of former Barcelona executives Soriano and Begiristain as putting pressure on Mancini.

But he has a better relationship with them than with previous chief exec Garry Cook and football administrator Brian Marwood.

Come on, does anybody really believe what is written in the papers when it comes to the manager? We learnt from the Hughes incident that allowing information to slip is a dangerous game and can cost us publically with the media influence. Even the little things that used to come out have stopped and long may it continue.

There's no chance of getting Rodgers to leave Liverpool FC, as it, like Luis Suarez, has got 'istry....

There's more chance of Ginger Rogers than Brendan Rogers.

Ibrahimovic? He's 31. How does that fit with our alleged transfer policy? Plus he's a monster tart. No thanks, I'd prefer to stick with Dzeko, who is iffy.

Hopefully? No need for hope as there's not the slightest possibility.

It's ironic that the paper's called the mirror because if they had a look at themselves they'd see that they make themselves look like twats when they print such shite. The journalism employed in the report is way below the 'abducted by aliens' standard and it must have been penned by an office junior . . . a not very bright office junior who was only employed in the first instance as a way of providing a butt for the office jokes.

It's quite amazing how the media put across these tenuous links. First they throw the Suarez to us just because Mancini believes he was the player of the season (do you really think he was going to say RVP?) and then drop the Rodgers link in. Don't call me a sage but I wonder if we'll get the 'Rodgers to take Suarez to City' story soon?

All this on the back of a 6-0 emphatic win for the Dippers. I'm sure none of their fans will want to pick up the paper or click the link online to read that story; surely.

Why would we go for these jokers when 'Arry will be available as soon as QPR are mathematically relegated? Step it up, media!
