Virgin Media is kicking off the pre-match excitement for the forthcoming Manchester derby between United and City fans with a No Likey, No Lighty Twitter game in a bid to predict the outcome of the match on Monday 8 April.

No likey = No lighty

Kick off: How it works

If you want your team to triumph off the pitch as well as on it by winning the 'No Likey, No Lighty' bragging rights, get involved here.

Tweet the hashtag of the team that you think will win this year's derby in Manchester and we will light up the town hall on Sunday 7 April at 7.30pm in red and blue according to the proportion of Tweets each team receives.

If you think United will win, hit the "Tweet #VMred" button above or Tweet containing #VMred from your Twitter account.

If you think City will win, hit the "Tweet #VMblue" button above or send a Tweet containing #VMblue from your Twitter account.

The live results are being tracked on this page, so you can monitor the progress of your team and directly influence the results by sending a Tweet by using the buttons above or directly from Twitter*.

Full-time: The big switch on

The results of the competition will be unveiled when the town hall is lit up at 7.30pm on Sunday 7 April. If you can't make it down to the square on the night, come back to this page to see pictures of the illuminated town hall.

Did you know you can watch the Manchester derby on Virgin TV channel 511, Sky Sports 1 and on Virgin TV Anywhere on your PC? And have you discovered Virgin Media TiVo® yet? Click here to find out more about our packages and deals.

* A maximum of two votes cast by each individual will count

What is it with all this twitter shit anyhow? I think it should be banned. I don't do it and for that reason I'm now excluded by my own club from voting for player of the month on the OS. Should be twit of the month if only twitters can vote for it.
What's the world coming to when a lifelong fan can't vote for player of the month or cast a vote towards illuminating the town hall in blue - but where a kid who's never watched a game can be on the far side of the planet but can have a say in both!!!

PS. Oh, and yes - no likey.

Virgin will want their brand colours highlighted on the town hall so its obvious the biggest majority will be red!

I think every blue should boycott this idea as it is plainly so rag based and just tell VM to fuck right off.

Agreed pal. No doubt the rags will cream their pants about it as well!

Last year a similar Twitter based competition was won by Blues by a huge margin ... this time I guess no one bothered with the useless thing ... it's still on though, isn't it with deadline sometime tomorrow or was it today?

Better tell Mancini and the players not to bother then - the people of Kuala Lumpur have decided we're going to lose.

How fitting that we recieved 16% of the votes it must be in recognition of the 1-6 hammering we gave them last season.
