That was weird, went straight to the start of the last page and thought Ted was back, then we got into genetically modifying Tyrion Messi and then realised Phips had resurrected a thread so old Jesus couldn't have got a twitch out of it.

actually apologize for this one. i had no idea this was that old. i thought this was the one from earlier this year about Pep being signed.
i didn't want a 2013 thread.

Well, since this is here i'll use it.

Interesting to see people considering Pep's time at Bayern to be a failure. Hes about to win his third league title in a row and i think he won the DFB Pokal 2 yrs ago too. But hes been knocked out of the CL semis by a Spanish club three years in a row now.
For a club like Bayern (or Juve and PSG) that has very little domestic competition the prize is the CL so i think i agree that his time has been a failure

I think I argued this with Carl in another thread somewhere.
I wasnt convinced he had improved the Bayern team. Before I go on though, this isnt a 'Pep is shite' rant. I merely pointed out that the stats show that they went from a treble under Heynkes to a Double and then a single all the while their winning ratio diminishing. I am still glad he is coming to us. I just say this as a way of tempering expectations. He really has his work cut out for him, with us.
I dont think stats tell the wholevstory. There are things in that Bayern team that I have liked. They are capable of having a plan B by putting decent crosses in to centre forwards who are aerially very good, when they come up against teamsvwho put ten in defense, like Juve did and it nearly worked again tonight.
They do it at high speed also. They are extremely fit and usually manage to grind out a result in the end. It didnt work out tonight.
I think Pep will be judged harshly, whether that is justified or not, I dont know.
I'm still glad he's coming.

if we have 25+ attempts on goal and ian is playing we score 10 every game. has anyone ever scored 300 goals in a season?

I think the CL is a bit of an anomaly when it comes to tracking results in the last few rounds. Winning the CL isn't often repeated over and over so to say he took them backwards is silly. Personally I think last 4 or 8 is the true barometer as after that it's typically the best teams in the world and anyone can take it.

Simione said that Bayern in the first half were better than any team they've faced this year by far and I agree. They completely dominated Athletico. If Muller haven't missed the penalty, they'd be through to the final.

Simione also gets credit for his changes in the second half and the way his team fought tooth and nail. Oh and Oblack in goal had a Joe Hart like performance

thrilled to see what the current passing game Master can do with our lads.... and full backing fm the Club.

3 yrs late, but a definite improvent on Bobby (on seberal levels at least) and on Svennis too, the only managers of the contempory era who could have built a dinasty.

Hope Pep will be willing to stay as long as for building a dinasty, but I doubt he will enjoy Mancunian showers for so long.
EPL is a drug tho, so who knows?.... finger crossed.
