While replying to the below post I thought I'd spend a few minutes looking at Bobby's record and rather than just reply to the post I thought it maybe of use to have it's own thread for continued debate. So, yours to debate away.

Piccsnumberoneblue wrote:In all comps its won eight, drawn six, lost seven. And that isn't good enough. Even away from home.

As I can't see the point in using figures over a 12 month period as it's all about the season for me. So I thought I'd pull together a few stats, good or bad, that you can take into account. Pull apart at will.

Mancini's Overall Record at City:

Played: 162
Won: 95
Drawn: 34
Lost: 33
Win %: 58.64
Equivalent points per game: 1.97

LAST SEASON:

All Competitions
:

Played: 55
Won: 37
Drawn: 7
Lost: 11
Win %: 67.27
Equivalent points per game: 2.15

Premier League only:

Played: 38
Won: 28
Drawn: 5
Lost: 5
Win %: 73.68
Equivalent points per game: 2.34

Champions League Only:

Played: 6
Won: 3
Drawn: 1
Lost: 2
Win %: 50
Equivalent points per game: 1.67

Premier League Champions.

THIS SEASON:

All Competitions:

Played: 21
Won: 10
Drawn: 8
Lost: 3
Win %: 47.61
Equivalent points per game: 1.81

Premier League Only:

Played: 14
Won: 9
Drawn: 5
Lost: 0
Win %: 64.28
Equivalent points per game: 2.29

On current figures we would average out at 2 points (1.9) down on last years total of 89.

Champions League Only

Played: 5
Won: 0 (edited for accuracy)
Drawn: 3
Lost: 2
Win %: Zero - a Big Fat Fucking Freddie!
Equivalent points per game: 0.6

For comparison:

Mercer: Win %: 43.82 PPG: 1.59 (converted to 3 points)
Maley: Win %: 59.33 PPG: 1.93 (converted to 3 points)
Taggart: Win %: 59.65 PPG: 2.01

Not to disregard those stats or anything, but the simplest indicator for me of Mancini's success is firstly that he's won 2 major trophies in 2 years, but on top of that, we are the only team to go 14 games unbeaten in successive seasons, and its touching 2 years since we lost a home league game.

We have been setting records all over the place and winning things, therefore as far as i'm concerned, his record is fantastic.

I'm in the same train of thought and go off what my peepers see, however, although the rest of the stats look great (nearly on par with Taggart) our Champions League from this season do not. To be fair, it wasn't a goal for me this season and I thought we could get out of the Group stage, that was, until I seen the names drawn out. That's when I had reservations.

Overall, no complaints from me atall. In fact, I'd go on to say I'm over the Bluemoon with everything that has happened during Bobby's tenure. Yes, I'll critcise when I see something I don't like and sit pulling my hair out when we're doing things wrong on the pitch, but who doesn't?

I think the general rule should be.. when we lose or draw 'No kneejerk reactions allowed'.

These kind of stats don't take into account variables like opposition played, where played etc. On a greater scale, comparing him with other mangers, there's countless other things to take into account.

That said I think they correlate with my opinion on Mancini = domestic good, Europe = less so. Pretty obvious I'd say. Not seen much to see that that will change in the future either, despite you crediting him with a phantom win this term.

Surely Roberto's record on Europe remains to be seen. We've had two very tough groups in 2 years and as the saying goes "Rome wasn't built in a day".

I'm not a euro-sceptic by nature but the idea of a champions league has always grated with me. How can you have a champions league when some teams competing aren't champions?

The point I'm making is that the premiership for the next few seasons should be priority 1 with steady progress in the CL as 2.

I don't give a toss about the CL at all, it's a dog and pony show for the greedy.

So far this term we've seen City involved in five great games, for the same or less money

Carl does not abuse Bobby: he just runs his personal, respectable opinion, that he would prefer the Portuguese Clown in charge.

Carl abuses Joleon and rumours are about him having a Nasty affair with a Serbian teenager. the cheecky paedo!

If we're talking about historic managers and other teams then we may as well bring Inter into (no pun intended!) it. Mancini had scudettos coming out of ears but, again, his team were seen as a consistent failure in Europe.

We had a tough group but take a team like Dortmund - They had an initial season back in the Champions League after a 9 (?) year absence. This second year they're storming the 'tough group' and, rightly, are earning praise from all over. Why aren't we? I don't want to bring the money argument into it because it's tedious, but I'm pretty sure they don't have anywhere near the resources we do.

I agree with your other points, but I genuinely believe we should be competing better in the Champions League - this season and last.

I just want to point out here that I'm not against Mancini at all, because it probably sounds like I am. I think his achievements domestically have been solid and will continue to be, in Europe I hope he proves me wrong.

It's a friendly, unless we win it - so yes it's a competition.
