At least he won't be allowed to referee another game until the inquest is over.

Agreed. And walmai as your not looking at things through sky blue glasses, Can I ask what's your opinion on the refereeing we saw today at Stamford bridge? Bent or not?

Quite surprised by the lack of interest in this story, it could have huge ramifications for the future of the game in this country.

If Clattenburg is found to be innocent, what happens to Chelsea? Can they be allowed to continue playing in the Premier League? Will their owners be banned from owning clubs in this country? Will they be deducted points?

If Clattenburg is found guilty then do the results/bookings/penalties he has awarded stand? How far back should the investigation go? Has his racism affected his decisions in previous games? What punishment will be brought against him?

If nothing happens to Clattenberg because the bent FA protect him, where will that leave Chelsea?

Good point. I agree with your post before. Someone has to answer for it. Sadly I think Chelsea will be the ones who face the consequences.

I don't know whether it was bent. It was shockingly incompetent, to allow the winner, but the thing about Torres' second yellow is less clear cut. I don't think personally that, even if simulation deserves a yellow, the player should go off for it. Its too easily misread, especially with the speed with which the game is played.

The reality is that certain forwards (most of the best-paid in the world, in truth) float around a blurred line of skill, speed and play-acting.

Ivanovic had to go, by the letter of the law.

Of course there might be nothing in it, just Chelsea tring it on. On the other hand, if he has made racist comments to players you have to ask yourself, "Is this the first time"?

I don't disagree with either decision being correct, what I do question, is how the fuck Clattenburg, from his position, can be certain of either. In which case, how can he send players off ? If it was shirt pulling or an arm round the neck or even a fully fledged trip, the ref can see it, but how the fuck can Clattenburg be sure, looking from the back, that either of those decisions is right ?

Imo, he doesn't know for sure & he's just decided to bet on on the side of Utd, because he knows where his bread is buttered.

On the other charge, 'Spanish twat' isn't racist any more than 'English twat' or 'Scottish twat' would be racist. It will be a sad day if we can't abuse each other due to nationality.

It is however, potentially career ending for a ref, so I hope it gets proven, as he is a bent, shit ref.

All he has to say though is that his actual words were "I didn't call you a Spanish twat " & then he is free to ref in the world cup.

Both of those scenarios sound very very extreme. VERY. I would utterly shocked if anything like what you mention above happens.
I could be wrong though..who really knows.

I dislike him immensely but somehow get the feeling that this is not true, or that there's more/less to it than meets the eye. I wonder if the press have got their wires crossed and that 'Spanish twat' was the 'racial slur' in question. If so, Clattenburg will still be in big trouble but we'll at least avoid another tedious he said/she said furore followed by a handshake storm, followed by a T-shirt controversy, followed by who knows what next. Sigh.
