For the rags to be critical of Sugar Daddies is hilarious. The rags have had more sugar daddies than Joan Collins has had husbands. If it hadn't been for quite a number of sugar daddies, the rags would have gone out of existence many many years ago. The whole of the City squad turned up to one of their jumble sales and donated cash to them, to keep them in business.
A large part of the initial income, that kick started and funded their post war - modern history came from the generosity of City, allowing them to play their games at Maine Road and giving them access to City's much larger crowds. There is a belief that they never paid the rent bill.
Their biggest commercial asset pre Premier League was their commercialisation of the Munich disaster, not only the groundswell of public and media support that helped fill their coffers but the manner in which the rags have ensured it has been continuously regurgitated by the press over the last 50 years.
Having educated you on that lot, I will now refer you to the G14, the blackmailing and coercion of UeFA by that group, the restructuring of the financial and competition rules that ensured that channels of income were put in place, benefiting only those clubs from the major nations and effectively wiping out fair competition from smaller and less powerful nations.
As the g14/UeFA issue is such a huge one, I will not spoon feed you but leave you to research it and educate yourself.
As you flag yourself up as a Carlisle fan, itamuses me to remember that great sugar daddy of your club...Mr Knighton.
