Tevez and Agüero (like the rest of our team) have had (by their own standards) poor seasons. Dzeko is just shit....

That Coventry player has scored more than Torres in the Johnstons Paint Trophy this season.

He's lost it. most of his goals this season have been against weak opposition in the form of the fa cup, league cup an europa league. He goes missing in most if not all premier league games.

None as important as the Premier League.

May I ask what your point is bumping a 2-month old topic to compare him to our forwards?
Do you genuinely believe that he is a better player than all of them? Do you believe he has had a better season than them? Do you believe he has had an exceptional or even good season by anyone's standards? Do you think he'd strengthen our first team or even squad? What's the deal, mate?

Completely agree with this.

Torres is finished as a top class player and has been for 3 years. His decline started about March/April 2010. He moved to Chelsea in January 2011.

He was absolutely brilliant for Liverpool for 2 and a half years but after that his last 6-12 months there he was poor and his time at Chelsea for him individually has been appalling.

I know you can take other competitions into consideration but 14 goals in 75 league appearances for Chelsea says it all.
He scored 65 goals in 102 league appearances for Liverpool.

silly me for spurring some discussion on a player that everyone has been critiquing all season...especially when it turns out he's been playing better than all of ours. i thought this was a football forum, i guess its just a forum for smartass snarky people to bully one another. my bad.

Has he though?

- Aguero: Substandard season by his (rather high) standards, but let's not forget that he has all in all been injured for almost 3 months & still scored more goals in the PL than Torres.
- Tevez: 16 goals & 15 (!) assists so far. And that's only the numbers. Even with half that he'd be much more valuable to any team than the current Torres ghosting around the pitch. One of our best & most consistent performers this season. If Torres has been better, I'm HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
- Dzeko has scored more goals than Torres in the PL (I don't know how often I have to make this point). Most of them were very important, only 3 of his 12 goals were scored in lead. He's had a decent season (much like Torres), with some poor games, but also some very very good ones (haters gonna hate). If you think that numbers are everything & the Club World Cup & Europa League are so fucking important, you can have this one. IMO, it's a close call & basing it purely on League form, Dzeko still edges it.

I actually don't mind Torres, I'm just annoyed by you slagging off our players beyond reason.

After that miss the answer to the heading of the thread is a big fat NO, he will never regain his form and he will only be surplus to requirements at Chelsea now Costa has come over IMO.

Shame really considering he was once a top striker! I remember wishing him to come city when he was leaving Liverpool, how ashamed I am!!

You don't actually think that do you? Torres isn't anywhere near the level of any of our anymore and hasn't been for years.

Tbf, you'd have to be a monumental fuckwit to even consider that thought.

Started this thread over two and a half years ago and looks like the majority called it right. Shame to see what's happened to him. Gone from One of the best strikers in world football to Bernard corradi v2.

See, this is where I disagree....

Those two seasons at Liverpool were the exception, rather than the rue.

As far as I know, he was a one in three striker before that. I think he was a one in three striker for Spain also. And he's probably a one in four striker now.

He was never one of the world's best.

I think you could be near the mark with that thought, OD; not dissimilar to Ireland's season of glory with ourselves.
