£65 million! Wow, these numbers are difficult to even comprehend but that's how it goes these days.

He's earned this though contract by being a model pro and a world class player since he arrived, and is clearly highly regarded by the execs and owner. Congratulations Vinnie and as blues2win says - the heart and soul of the club.

Divide that by 1/2 and add it on top and you have Got Shreks Swamp contract. Comprehend that!

Just sums up the way the media portray things. For City it's work out the biggest figure possible, in this case the total over the full contract, and quote it as if it's obscene but for another player elsewhere it's the annual figure and made out to seem like a good sensible deal to keep a star player.

Vinnie is worth every penny he gets.

I thought Wonderwall's version sounded more profound.

The need for quality centre backs, especially with his ability with the ball, in the world is very high for attack minded teams like us, and we have not only one of the best but one that also loves the club/fans and is a leader that makes his value even higher.

Without him we would be far worse on the pitch. We saw how it went when he was out last season. Hopefully he can maintain fitness levels going forward.

Apologies Rural but I'm still trying to come to terms with Mikhail Chigorin's comment on Mrs Chinner's feminine pulchritude from that other thread.
