After just over a week I am finally starting to cool down. At half time the stadium at our end was friggin buzzin ! by the time we walked back down Wobbly way I was fucking raging with Mancini and his duff defensive tactics ! probably been shit loads of posts on this since last week however I just needed to write something down. Mancini better start manning up !!! I actually believe his people skills are pants. On the train back home the fucking rags made our life hell......I am used to losing to that fucking lot but Mancini seems to like losing that way to them....twat

Breathe in breathe out. Meaningless game, last time we played then and it mattered, they went home. Last I checked our goals are win the FA Cup, the Prem and the Champions League. I don't recall seeing the Community Shield on the list.

Can I move this to the Classics forum now or would you like to share more of your measured, well thought out wisdom with us?

Not a meaningless game at all. A Manchester Derby at Wembley. It also would have given us a psychological advantage. Stop being a sore loser. All City fans were gutted.

Mate, look in the mirror, I am not being a sore loser. Apathetic yes, plussed by the fact we lost in something that will be forgotten, actually is forgotten after yesterday is far from being a sore loser. Yes I was bummed we lost, but hardly gutted. No one remembers who wins this match 30 years in the future.

As for a physcological advantage, maybe as supportes, the players clearly were not into it like we were.

if you were there its harder to let that shit feeling go ,pissed rain as we walked back to the train ,miserable ,no one wanted to talk ,no one had any excuses ,I wanted us to win the Sheild especially Vs that lot, yeah yeah its just a friendly blah blah blah I went there expecting us to win something we havnt held since 1972 ,after our good showing in the Dublin super cup ,I really convinced myself the days of playing that badly were over and losing games to the rags in the cruelest ways were something we'd mastered but done with .
Swansea game was refreshing and we'll win the poxy Shield many times in the future but my point is basically if you were actually at the game it was sickner thats hard to forget and I know for a fact if I
was sitting at home watching it I wouldnt care less .

So if we won you wouldn't have celebrated or taken the mick out of United fans? No game against United is meaningless. Try going 250 miles to see us throw away a 2-0 lead.

And as for no one will remmber it in 30 years? Well no one will remmeber the Swansea match in 30 years. So was that game meanignless aswell?

spot on - imo it is daft to label it a meaningless game - and just too damn convenient

The test of whether it was meaningless was in the approach of the fans that were there - we were seeing it as far from meaningless and we had spent a good amount of time and money to support

I would not like to think that the management and players were so far out of touch with the fans as to mis-understand

Mancini and the players simply got it wrong - massively - in the 2nd half and the scum got it right

We can be thankful it was not a game in our more important comps - but that does not mean it was meaningless

To be angry well over a week later still though...well that is daft surely? It's just a game a football.

injury check. Rags 3 City 1.

Our preseason prep is currently two players ahead.

I know, me and Doom Merchant came a bloody long way to go to Wembley.....it was a fucking bummer on the way back into London but we got stuck right into some ales, had a curry, climbed on some post boxes, had some more drinks, saw some yout's misbehaving and got on with life

It's bad enough losing to the Scum at any time but it was made worse by the way we played and the way we made them look good.

Their third goal, especially, was an absolute joke. You might reckon on VK making one mistake per season and he chose that exact time to make it in front of the world and his wife. He should have hoofed the little Rag swine over the top of the nearest stand but he just seemed to be caught in two minds and made himself a laughing stock in the process - as has been gleefully pointed out to me continually by Scumfollowers this last week.

It rankles and irritates so much, I just hope the players feel the same and remember this for the next time we play them.

I think there's a benefit out of the match. Had we of dicked them, you could make a case that the rags would have pushed harder to bring in Sneijder. Instead, they think they've already got the squad to win the league.

It's all part of our cunning plan.

Just as well you were here to add some insight with that gem of a post then eh?

With re. to the OP, I agree it was a sickener, and the journey back wasn't great because of it, but it adds an extra incentive for us for this season. If we were going to lose 1 of 3 trips to Wembley....

You joke, but several people on this site were claiming McCarthy would be a better option than Mancini at times during last season!
