I watched him for 90 mins and he did not put 1 foot wrong. That was as def mid. He clearly had class. Now he is settled and in his fav and best position. We just need to figure out who his long term partner should be at the back.

West Ham wasn't it? I remember he played this beautiful cross field ball about 25 minutes in - it was a better pass than I'd seen from anyone not named Ali or Eyal in a City shirt.

The only player comparable is the one we all think of but will rightfully get slated for harping on about.

Arsenal - Squillaci and Koscielny look suspect, Vermaelen injured.
Chelsea - Terry and Alex having a poor year, Ivanovic is good but plays on the right.
Tottenham - Gallas has done well, Dawson's been injured, King good with dodgy knees, Kaboul I'm not sure about.
Liverpool - Ha.
Scum - Vidic is the only one who'd come close. Clearly doing something right as a unit but I won't gratify any of them by adding to that.

What's ironic is that this thread starts after we concede three.

Some centre back pairing belgium have with Kompany and Vermaelen.

I think Vinny is the best in the league, Vidic a close second.

It's a close call between Kompany and Vidic imo. Possibly ours is still just slightly behind

DIfficult to say when you watch one most matches and the other in highlights and virtually never live. For me Kompany is far more assured with the ball at his feet Vidic maybe has a slight edge defensivly but it would only be a slight edge. One aspect that Vidic has that Kompany has yet to bring to his game his he is pretty useful attacking weapon at corners and scores goals most seasons whereeas I have rearely seen Kompany win an attaking header. He has alos done it over a few more years and consistency is important in a centre back.
Personally though I would not swap them if offered.

He booked out our VIP on saturday night - giant of a man - sent him a drink and a note over with one of the girls... not sure if he'll call or not.
All we are saying is give Doug a pass.

It's between him & Vidic & both have pros & cons. The way Vidic dealt with Crouch & Spurs in the air was a class above anything Kompany has produced against them or similar attacks but I always thing Vidic is borderline on the ground compared to VK + Vinny is a much better footballer.
