I think it's also worth mentioning that we have won more games than any other team in the Prem.
Things are looking good!

It's extremely good going considering we've often been carrying one or two players in the back 4. We were extremely defensive to start with so that will have helped the stats but we've been a lot more positive recently & still not conceded many. We can certainly still improve a lot too.

i think we can improve a lot both as a team and just in defence. It is bit difficult to put this but we have seemingly conceeded from stupid mistakes mostly and that has come since we started venturing out and turned our attention to attacking more. By that very token it kind of seems logical that we may have taken our collective eye of the defensive ball a little as a result, if you get my drift. So i am expecting us to get a bit more balanced over time and for us to return to an even meaner defensive record as the team gets even more settled up front and the FBs get to grips with their role.
An example of this would be AJ, Yaya and to a lesser extent Silva getting better at breaking up play before it starts in the oppo half.

I must admit, I hadn't looked at the table since last night.
Even so, no team has won more than us - That's not bad for a team that the media would have you believe play defensive negative football!

I find myself watching the City games with quiet confidence, unlike the roiling waves of anxiety of prior years. We`re not just good, we`re lucky...
My one request would be to deliver another spanking, so we can get our goal difference competitive with U know who.

the triangle of centerbacks and goalkeeper has been solid as a rock for most of the season. Fullbacks, in the words of Mancini himself, not so much.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Just think how good this defence could be next season if Boateng and Kolarov make the grade.

Absolutely. I mean the foundation of any good defence is solid centerback pairing who understand each other and quality goalkeeper. We have all that. All we need is for fullbacks to step up and claim their place in starting line up. Kolarov is good player but he needs to adjust his game to Premier League. Boateng, as I said on another thread, needs to grow as a player. Personally I wouldn't write off Zabaleta either though. He is still 25 and if he could control his tackling bit, I don't see why he couldn't make that rightback position his own. I know he isn't one of these exciting new signings but I really see the potential in him.

Whist taking nothing away from the centre halves and Joe, I'm sure that this statistic has a great deal to do with Nigel De Jong.
He's been absolutely immense this season and when he's not in the team, he's sorely missed.
