Does anyone else feel nothing at all?

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Does anyone else feel nothing at all?

Postby colonel_muck » Tue Dec 14, 2010 10:44 pm

When I saw on sunday morning on the official site that tevez had had a transfer request declined, I barely flinched. Not cos I wasn't surprised or disappointed, I truly was. But because these days football feels to me more like a media pantomine with an intermission every weekend where they have to have a break to (heaven forbid) watch the matches. First Rooney at united, Now Tevez in a carbon copy situation. And all the while fans get sucked in and it's all anyone talks about all week long. I was so happy saturday night with the way we played for the fourth game running, convinced that mancini had changed his ways, we'd won without our best player, and the lads really look like they're enjoying their football. I was thinking how gutted i would be that soon we wouldn't be playing twice a week for a while and that a full week without getting to watch my team in the most exciting season of my life would be annoying. But the matches are a mere blip in an age where you cannot escape story after story about who's leaving who in january, who's fallen out with who and who's shagging who's bird. It never stops. The end of August used to be the best part of the season because the rumours would go away until late november, but these last two seasons the press have just hammered on regardless. And the worst thing is, the vast majority of people who read these made up stories every week keep coming back for more and believing it. So this week Carlos Tevez is on everyone's minds. I get that, I loved him so much I don't think I could ever bring myself to hate him and I of course like every other city fan have my opinion on the whole thing and want to talk about it. I would much rather all this was kept quiet until january when he just suddenly left and everyone would be shocked. It's so tedious watching the whole thing pan out over another month where no one really knows whats going on and you can bet your bottom dollar that the press will make up every story known to man about it in the mean time just to cover all their bases so when the reasons do finally come out they can say they broke the story. It really drains me. I just wish they would give it a rest for half a week.

We're playing Juve on Thursday in a game that doesn't really matter then we've got Everton on monday and we often struggle against them.

Come to think of it ... Luke and Matt were the cheestastic pop equivelent of the Mitchell brothers from that well know dreary soap Eastenders. Craig is more like the Billy Mitchell of athe forementioned soapland drabness.

24/7 media outlets means a lot of space has to be filled and most of it will be bollocks. SSN today trailered Tevez returns to City for training thsi morning but 'there has been a major twist'

The major twist it seems was it wouldn't be this morning but lunchtime. My only surprise is that it didn't make the yellow breaking news bit

The solution is just avoid all media outlets for a few days including forums like this. Read a book, walk the dog, surf porn (recommended) or whatever. It soon all fades into the background and you will soon wonder what the hell all the fuss is about.

I was thinking about that before. Utd had their little couple of days with Rooney. Blackburn have sacked Fat Sam. Various teams have a little burst of contoversy here & there but with City, it just goes on & on & on, year in year out, money or no money, there's always something around the corner. I realised how much stuff happens with us compared to most & I remembered that 2nd season under Pearce, a season of nothingness, where nothing much happened. I look at rags fans trying to generate enthusiasm about the same ol routine, even though they win stuff all the time, the only time they really felt anything for years was beating us in the league cup.

I thought; how fucking boring must it be to support someone else?

Nobody does it better.

I love it

I was / am surprised at how little disappointment I have been feeling.

I think that it is because I genuinely feel that we are not about to fall apart - Mancini has the defence and midfield playing really well and I would that any top striker would score goals in front of that set of players - and there was no evidence that they were downing tools on his behalf against WH (I know the news had not broke but they must have had some inkling) - I think that Dzeko would score goal for fun - and he might be willing to pass to Balotelli - something that was a concern to me during the Bolton game about Carlos

When I first saw the story that Tevez had handed in a transfer request and the websites claiming he said "I will leave City", I honestly felt nothing.
I don't even have contempt for these rag sheets and fictional storyline reporters. I then saw the words "The official clubs response" and my heart sank, Immediately went to the clubs website and verified it was true.

I wasn't too bothered about Tevez leaving, I don't / didn't want him to go, but that's not what bothered me.

I thought of the Kaka saga, the Robinho saga and how this is another public spat, making the club look bad. I imagine many fictional works with twisted quotes, mis-quotes and incorrect translations.
I'm going to buty my head in the sand from all the bullshit that I'm expecting to hear over the next few months.
This would all have been much better behind closed doors!

If he stays (for how long?) and gives 100%, I would expect that...He is being well paid to do that. WTF
If he goes and we replace him wu=ith someone else...WTF.

Football has always been a conveyor belt. Heroes come and heroes go...WTF.

Tis very funny because like john says, players come and players go, it will never stop me from loving the club that I have supported for 34 years. The OP is spot on, I dont particularly want him to leave but if he does, so what!

Maybe my old man knew something years ago, he took me to my first match at Maine road to see City show off the league cup, I have never seen a trophy since (notwithstanding youth cups, play off cup and of course the Christopher Columbus runners-up cup) but you know what, I wouldn't swap any of them for all the shit the rags have won. The reason, I am a blue and would rather have my teeth replaced with my toenails than be associated with that wank from stretford.

It doesn't matter what the press say, it doesn't matter what other fans say, it doesn't matter what other players say; The only thing that matters is us.

Us, we are the lifeblood of this club and always will be. My two boys aged 4 and 3 have been to over 50 games between them, more than any rag I (unfortunately know) put together.

Tevez, his loss, we move on, only this time we can get whoever we like.

I see a silver pot this season being lifted above Kolo Toures' head (or whoever the captain is) and can't fuckin wait so lets still all rejoice in all that is City

CITY TILL WE die AND MORE

edited for you John

I enjoyed every bit of that Edgeley mate.....except the bit about dying.

I hear young kids sing that and think they are submitting their young lives to many years of following city.
When I sing it...at my age....well let's just say "not quite as long...:-)

Can we have more emphasis on the City and a bit less on the dying....:-)

Certainly mate, as I am getting on a bit myself (maybe not quite as old as your good self) it means something lol. I do like Joe and Mark singing it as iot makes me smile. They are fifth generation City fans and although everyone thinks I'm mad for bringing them, I don't care. I have suffered/loved the experience and so will they lol.

To be honest I was pretty devastated at first, it seemed another 'typical City' moment; top of the league one day and in turmoil the next. Then I was angry and wanted to rip a limb off whoever's fault it was and beat their face through the back of their head with the bloodied stump. Then I was confused cos I didn't even know who's limbs I was supposed to want to tear off.

Now I've reached a zen like calmness, and think that whatever happens, we'll be fine. It's not like we've just lost 2-1 at Sincil Bank and might be gurgling down the plughole of football obscurity. Gotta trust the structure we have in place from the top down, and if any ingrates in our employ don't feel that, then adios; it's your loss.
