Just looking at his managerial record in the Prem, and it's laughable that anyone would go for him over Hughton, based on their records in that league. It would appear however, that he's an associate of a Toon board member. Oh dear!

Based on what? Hughton's been a manager for about 18 months and taken a relegated team to midtable in the Premier League. What has he done wrong? And, more importantly, how could any other manager have bettered what he's achieved in such a short space of time?

Surely the first objective of Newcastle this year was survival, and even though their season under Hughton was up to now a roller coaster, they never looked like relegation contenders.
Sacking him was very harsh, not sure what they expect, but whatever it is, I'm sure they will be disappointed

Pardew is a decent manager imo BUT what makes this poor appointment is that Pardew is a squad builder and coaching the players type rather than instant success type manager. He is not someone who will step into dressing room and change the team instantly. And it seems to me that instant results is what Fat Mike is after. Although I don't know if there is a manager in the world who could've done better that Hughton with players they have got.

Also, Pardew likes to play on the ground which is completely against the strengths of Newcastle squad. It will be interesting to see if he settles for more traditional football for a while.

Exactly what I thought when I heard it too. Surely the only saving grace to this appointment would have been either a 6 month deal to the end of the season, or a rolling contract where either party could sever the deal. Sublime to the ridiculous
