Small mistakes/Points dropped

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Small mistakes/Points dropped

Postby TheGOAT » Mon Dec 06, 2010 5:29 pm

We have dropped quite a few points this season becasue of silly errors, bad reffereeing decisions or just bad luck.
Yet we are still 3 points off the top of the League!!

Tevez open goal VS Sunderland - No doubt we would have won this game comfortably if he had scored that chance. 3 points
Hart/Toure mistake VS Blackburn - 2 points
Boyata Red Card VS Arsenal - Good chance we would have at least drawn this game! 1 point
Tevez hand ball decision VS Birmingham - 2 points
Concede last min VS Stoke - 2 points

Thats 10 points more we could have had, whcih would have put us well clear at the top of the league!
Now they say that these type of things even them self out, yet i dont recall us gaining any points from opposing errors or bad decisions (maybe Blackpool?).
So lets say we should be at least another 5 points better off than what we actually are. We would be top!

We are having a really good season so far, yet the bad press and the stories seem to make out that we arn't coping with this title race.
Apart from a horrible game against Wolves i think we have been outstanding!! If we can just iron out these little mistakes this really could be our season!!

LETS WIN THESE NEXT 5 AND BE TOP FOR THE NEW YEAR!!!!

Wins against Blackpool and Newcastle when we probably didn't deserve it, win against Chelsea was unexpected. Conservatively 6 points gained.

If we just scored more than we conceded every game we would be unbeatable

You've missed the point mate, i wasn't discussing if we deserved/expected to win. I was pointing out the points dropped becasue of mistakes.

You could say we was expected to beat wolves for example!!

Thanks for the insight. On the other hand if we conceded more than we scored we'd probably be bottom now!

Fair enough. We scored an offside goal against Blackpool and they had an onside goal ruled as offside.

Newcastle had a stonewall penalty turned down and we had a penalty given that may or may not have been a penalty and may or may not have been inside the area.

Still 6 points.

Stop crying over spilt milk, all clubs drop points, look at Chelsea's poor form, we have not played like champions yet so we dont deserve to be up there yet.

I think you're being overly optimistic to assume we would have drawn against Arsenal and won at Sunderland. Gettng the breakthrough at Stoke didn't wrap up the game and Wolves dicked us around that time.

But united do??? United should be fucking mid table if results went on what teams 'deserved' and not bent officials and luck.

Overly optimistic???? A draw at home? Surly over optimistic is a win? And you dont think we would have won the sunderland game if we had scored in the first half which we dominated?

I'm only pointing out that but for a few mistakes we would be top, jesus christ!!

I'm saying we had one goal leads against Blackburn and Stoke and we let them slip, so assuming we'd have done Sunderland is a stretch.

I think you have a valid point. All temas have thrown points away though and will continue to do so in a league that is so tight. No gulfs in class between most of the top sides, imho. certainly not the gaps that once existed, for sure.

wolves we deserved nowt, got lucky v barcodes and blackpool was probably a draw, all considered. i see those as 4 points picked up.

chelsea we totally outplayed, i think we ought to be looking for a win anyway, it was a home game.

blackburn was 2 point loss, sunderland 3, agreed and birmingham 2 more. stoke another 2. that makes 9, less the 4, so 5 points dropped. enough to be top.

i agree with the OP, therefore, that with not a lot of luck, we should be top. it's all in the past now, but the next 6 games could see us go top. 4 wins and 2 draws might be enough, given the other teams around us playing each other. all very promising. we have a top notch defence (according to the stats) and we now appear to be attacking at will. we press on with this approach and we will be ripping teams to pieces.

I dont believe United do either, Chelsea are in a poor run, in the next few weeks they'll click back into gear and they'll regain their place where they will end up.

I'm sorry...but that's a ridiculous OP

Life is full of 'what ifs'

Every football club in the country has them...so if we turned that loss into a win that time...I mean come on!
