I resisted being pedantic about that! WIsh I'd not bothered now!

Ridiculous decision though on the face of it. He's dug them out of a right hole, and after doing better than can justifiably be expected gets the spanish archer.

Can only think something's gone on behine the scenes there; some demands or conditions maybe been put out by Hughton, and the skunk board in their infinite wisdom giving it the old knee jerk revolving door action.

Either that or he was sporting a somewhat flacid trajectory...

I cannot believe they've done this.

Hughton has done a great job there. These Geordies are so fucking thick. Their belief that only someone from their pathetic 'Geordie nation' can manage them is embarrassing (even though they don't seem to understand that Keegan is not a Geordie!).

I hate Newcastle because their fans think they have this god-given right to be successful, but liked Hughton as he seemed like he would be able to stabilise the club. I really, really hope they get relegated and I hope we turn them over big-time when we visit St James'.

Sort of not surprised, he's not exactly had 100% backing from the board since august. They've got to have someone else lined up, with a bit of money to spend.

Haven't they????

To be fair, their fans are just as confused as we are, they didn't want him sacked. Looks like Ashley all over this again.

Let's see if the media is going to slaughter them for sacking Hughton as much as they slaughtered City for sacking Hughes.

Wonder if their board will be slaughtered as much as ours was for sacking Hughes? Probably not.

That said I'm not sure how on earth Newcastle think this is a good move, unless they have a real quality replacement already lined up - and I dont mean Shearer - am thinking Martin O'Neill, who would be an upgrade.

A very, very poor decision...but at least it means we won't be on the back pages tomorrow.

I'm sure he'll get a job very soon.....and good luck to him

What a joke. He's done a great job on a shoestring budget at Newcastle.

Newcastle will be relegated now. Yet another shocking decision by Mike Ashley.

Seems a strange decision. Maybe they have a 'big name' lined up?

Very strange decision .... big difference with Leslie mind as the Geordies waited until after the match and not leak it out at half-time ... probably the biggest/only gaffe our owners have made tbh
