Manchester City players made it easy for revellers in Hale to spot the football superstar last night - by donning a flamboyant range of polka dot fancy dress outfits for their Christmas party.

Players including England stars Adam Johnson, Joe Hart and Gareth Barry all stepped out in the garishly coloured clothes for a night out after their 1-0 win over Bolton.

The City stars enjoyed a meal at Piccolino's restaurant in Hale and then went on to party at Suburbia nightclub.

Boss Roberto Mancini, who was not present at the gathering, will have been glad of the opportunity for his squad to do some team bonding.
It comes after two high-profile bust-ups in the Blues camp.

Carlos Tevez clashed with Mancini after being substituted in the final minutes of the victory over Bolton - and he did not turn out for the bash.

Tevez had reportedly organised the party, with a themed inspired by the Queen musical We Will Rock You, but he was nowhere to be seen as the City stars stepped out together.

Also absent was firebrand striker Mario Balotelli, who was pictured fighting with defender Jerome Boateng on Friday. Boateng did, however, attend the party.

However, City's other millionaire players appeared happy to let their hair down and share the festive spirit as they joined in the fun.

Adam Johnson was among the most colourfully dressed, topping off his red annd yellow polka dot outfit with matching wellington boots, scarf and spectacles.

Gareth Barry's purple and green outfit was completed with hat and fake moustache.

The only player who appeared slightly embarrassed by the fancy dress theme was Patrick Vieira - who kept his head down in a sensible parka coat over his pink outfit as he arrived for the bash.

Luigi Lanzotti, 46, manager at Piccolino's, who looked after the party said: “It was a brilliant night, with a brilliant atmosphere.

“We know a lot of the players as they live around here and come in regularly with their families.

“They all had Italian food, sharing garlic bread and squid for starters and pasta and salad for main course, very healthy.

“They had a selection of wines with the meal. They were all dressed up but it was nothing extravagant.

“The bill was normal for a party of this size. They were very well behaved, it was a busy night and there were a lot of paparazzi outside.

“But it was just a nice meal and a nice night.”
