Adebayor & Co

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Adebayor & Co

Postby Ted Hughes » Thu Nov 11, 2010 10:28 am

We are led to believe that had Balotelli been fit, he would have played v rags. Therefore our dour, defensive display was down to us lacking the forward who would make us more attacking. Imo under no stretch of the imagination is Balotelli a genuine left sided player (he barely moves when we lose the ball) so again 'therefore' we had no other striker who Mancini deemed up to the job.

Imo that means we have two choices; either Mancini goes or Adebayor, Jo & RSC go. Therefore all 3 need selling immediately & replacements brought in who Mancini has confidence in. There's absolutely no way a £300M squad should have to completely change tactics in such a big game, because one 20 year old isn't fit or is suspended. Get the required players in, give Mancibni the squad he requires & lets have no more excuses.

Thoughts?

I agree that they should go as Mancini clearly doesn't fancy them - either they go or mancini does, agreed 100%

it was a really lame excuse. as you say balotelli does nothing off the ball. mancini played for a point and got it.

In that case, we should really go for both of them in Jan. It's ridiculous that we've spent all this money yet only have Tevez & a 20 year old kid as reliable striking options. We should be able to change both players for each game & still function as a team.

Couldn't agree more...I think we are seriously lacking in the striker department to be fair considering...like you said...the amount of money that has been spent

Problem is this, can we wait till janury(prob end of jan knowing our luck) relying on tevez? Mancini has to give the others a second chance between now and then or it will cost us. Ade may not be his cup of tea but hes a good striker, he should put his arm around him(even if he wants him out) bite his lip and try get the best out of him between now and then or else the only people who suffer is us.
derby day the scores were level,
then the goat was fed by neville,
silly boy should know for sure,
feed the goat and he will score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ade gets goals, this doesn't fit in with a philosophy of drawing every game 0-0.

I think Mancini's done that & Ade has been producing the goods to the best of his ability but if he is seen as so inferior to Balotelli that he can't trust him & would rather change tactics than start him, then we have to get rid when the time comes. There's no way Ade will accept being brought on as a time wasting sub in games like that. If he's still here after Jan & we treat him like that he'll start really sulking. Add that to Balotelli's potential antics & we'll end up with Tevez wanting out because he's sick of having to carry them.

United were not showing anything worth fearing, we were at home and had a striker that has 5 goals in his last 3 games sat on the bench.

I'd sulk if I were him.

Ade scored in the last game he played and we ended up getting bummed 3-1. Would you have been happy with that last night?

I think people should be getting off their high horses about Mancini. The pundits are all crying because they didn't get the spectacle they've been building up for months. The City fans are crying because we didn't attack and beat the rags. The rags are crying because we didn't expose ourselves and let them bugger us. everyone's blaming Mancini.

The poor fucker has the hardest job in world football IMO and he's doing an OK job. Leave him be and judge at the end of the season. If the football is a little dull, think back to Stuart Pearces last season with fond memories.

Wait a minute, I keep seeing these statements. Ade/Carlos/Mario et al are there to score goals, there's 10 other players on the pitch to stop the oppo from scoring yet somehow people are trying to infer that he could be the cause of us losing and that if he was on the pitch last night we would have been dicked; what gives?

Let's turn it around a little and say that if we played our in-form striker in some kind of attacking formation, similar to West Brom, we would've come away from the game with an easy 3 points.

If we are stooping to such lows as to make up some kind of implausible nonsense to protect our managers reputation, then things must be getting bad. It's like having Taggarts' mind games in your back garden!

And Saul, this is not directed at you personally but more at the general populous on here who seem to think that by diverting a point it somehow makes it more valid. We are all City fans and in the main very good posters, and I don't think we need to go down that route just to make a point.

It was hardly 3 easy points. West Brom hit the post and the bar. That's more than The Scum managed last night with a much better team.

Apparently all the players are tired as well so it might be worth getting in some players capable of playing 2 games in 3 days.

I'm not sure about that one mate, they've actually played 4 in 10 and with the weekend game, 5 in 13. That's not bad going to be fair.

I'm not sure you got my point mate. But from what you're saying, we were lucky to win that game then! It goes from bad to worse ;-)

2 of the last 5 were against Lech Poznan where hardly any of the team that played last night actually featured so it's 3 in 13, hardly a punishing schedule.

Dread to think what sort of state they'll be in on Saturday, best have a few oxygen tanks at the side of the pitch.

Four 0-0 draws in 46 games since Mancini took over. But don't let that get in the way of you making a stupid, pointless, facetious remark.
