Pubs / Booze on Wednesday

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Pubs / Booze on Wednesday

Postby Nick » Mon Nov 08, 2010 4:52 pm

Just saw this (stolen from chinners' bollox)

''Police aim to prevent clashes between Manchester United and Manchester City fans
Greater Manchester Police are to increase patrols and impose a two-mile alcohol exclusion zone from Manchester city centre to Eastlands on Wednesday in an attempt to prevent violence marring the game between City and United. ''

Now what does that mean? I have the day of work on wednesday and nobody wants to drive to the ground, so we were thinking of going into town before the match, start early and get a bite to eat.

What places will this ban include? and will there be beer at City sqaure / Mary D's etc. ?

The Townley will be open before the game but not after the game.

Usually it just means that if you get caught outside of a pub(As in on the street with cans) You get them taken off you

All the pubs should be open for business as usual...though some around the piccadilly close down regardless

PS. They do it every year

Oh right, I thought it was meaning city pubs may not be open. Thats a stupid rule because your not supposed to drink on the street anywhere, anyway?

I just think they are saying they will be more on top than usual...It's a bollox rule usually...men and my mates just grab a few tinnies regardless and walk up to the ground via the canal...never get gripped

No booze in city square

Well there best be in eastlands bar / mary d's... Eastlands bar is surely open after it ?

Why are they banning it at the square? That would generate a good atmosphere. Having a season ticket this year, i'm actually going to watch the derby in a block with a good atmosphere! (i hope!).
