Ireland gets his comeuppance.

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Ireland gets his comeuppance.

Postby Nutzer » Sun Nov 07, 2010 6:29 pm

I'm not one to gloat, well not much anyway, but it says on Teletext that after only being at the club for 4 months, Stephen Ireland is already considering his future with Aston Villa because he can't hold down a first team place. Wonder if he's got a feeling of deja vu? Well he might but I doubt he'd know what it means.
If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs, it's just possible that you haven't really grasped the gravity of the situation.

I think it is widely accepted that Ireland didn't want to leave City. If he is unhappy at Villa I wouldn't describe that as him getting his comeuppance.

Exactly. Yes, he said some things when he left that I'd rather he hadn't but I don't have any ill feelings towards him.

We would be undefeated and top of the league if Stevie had of stayed. He also would be driving a hotted up golf buggy.

Vaguely remember him. I heard Villa were considering his future, not the other way round!

I think that's a bit harsh on Ireland...Ok...so now it's been proven that he isn't as good as some on here thought

Fact is he didn't want to leave City, don't want to rub his face in it

Good luck to the guy wherever he ends up!

Before the Internet era, Teletext was the way to keep up with City results real time.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Shite thread btw, I so wanted Stevie to be the main man for us and am still a bit gutted it didn't work out. What, exactly, do you think he did to earn this "comeuppance"?
