City have appealed that the straight red should have been another yellow therefore it being a one match ban rather than a three match ban...so he will miss Wednesday regardless.

So if we win the appeal he will be ok to face Brum at the weekend?

Yes...it will be a one match ban, as in the rags

The thing is, if they overturn the card cause it was wrong, they can't then revisit the issue and make it a yellow, therefore a sending off and a one match ban can they?

Wouldn't that fall under re-refereeing the match?

Thats what I was thinking, which is why I think they'll tell him to fuck off and have another match ban on top.

Not sure how the logistics of it work...I don't think they can actually turn the card from red to yellow...But I do think they can reduce the ban to coincide with a yellow being issued in the first place

I'm hearing on Sky that we have accepted a game ban but appealing the 3 game ban. What's all that about, I've never heard of that and I'm pretty sure there's not been a case of this before; are we trying to set a precedence?!?

And why have the club issued this statement, it mentions nothing about a split decision from the club:

Manchester City can confirm that we have today submitted an appeal following the dismissal of Mario Balotelli for violent conduct during Sunday's 2-0 victory at West Bromwich Albion.

The claim will be heard by an FA independent regulatory commission tomorrow, Tuesday November 9.

All sounds very strange and if correct, it sounds that he wasn't going to play against the Rags but preferred against the lesser teams.

I think maybe Bobby think playing Balo on Wednesday might be too big a risk

I personally think it would be a risk worth taking. I guess we'll never know now.

That's the opposite of what was on the ticker bar on their news channel last time I looked. Strange business.

He winds up opponents just right, mostly with his tricks though, although at times he does with words too, like he did with Totti. He winds up the opposition fans too. I still remember him scoring a penalty against Roma at the San Siro right under the Roma fans section, and then sticking out his tongue at them as he was celebrating, I hated it then but I'd absolutely love it if he played against United, got wound up by their fans all game then netted the winner and did the same thing to them.

From the BBC website:

'Manchester City have denied they have accepted Mario Balotelli's sending-off at West Brom and insist they still hope the decision will be overturned.

The striker was shown a straight red for seemingly kicking Youssuf Mulumbu during City's 2-0 win at The Hawthorns.

Reports had claimed City would not contest the 20-year-old's dismissal, only the automatic three-match ban.

But the club will have their appeal against the red card heard by the Football Association on Tuesday.

"Manchester City can confirm that we have [on Monday] submitted an appeal following the dismissal of Mario Balotelli for violent conduct during Sunday's 2-0 victory at West Bromwich Albion," read a City statement.

Balotelli scored twice and picked up a yellow card before his dismissal.'

Interesting that the FA are having an expedited hearing for Balotelli. In camelface's case the appeal was heard after the next game if memory serves me correct so he was able to play.

I thought the rules stated that the paperwork went out Monday, Tuesday is when we have to submit the appeal and Thursday is when the case is heard.

Have things changed or are all the media outlets jumping on the sensationalism bandwagon; dramatic U-turn tomorrow?
