Hasn't Mancini managed him previously? He obviously knows what he is like and is confident that he can handle him. Football has always had talented mavericks, and I reckon we could have one in Mario.

Let's give him and the Boss a bit more of a chance.

I don't think anyone is writing him off (except Slim I think !). No doubt he's a great talent and will be tremendous for us this season and the future but maybe some anger managment councling for the next 3 weeks would be in order.

And so we should do, I didn't think it was a stamp anyway. More his leg was forced out there by the fall and the cheating turd made it look like a stamp to get him sent off. Karma's a bitch eh!

Wether or not Mario can learn some(a LOT more) self control remains to be seen. One things for certain though, he's going to be a marked man as far as refs go. Thats going to make his task much harder.

I fucking love him, he's a loose cannon but so was bellamy and he was a hero here!

So every now and again he'll get in trouble I can live with that! Some of the reactions here are ridiculous!

Its bound to be extended because it has a zero chance of success.
Mancini's sole reason for appealing would be to have Balotelli available for the derby.
And perhaps also the psychological factor of backing his player.

But its a high-risk strategy with such a loose cannon.

Just missed the whole existence of this thread whilst talking about Balotelli on the other one! So do we have a definitive answer; will he be available if we appeal?

Tbh I would be sure he'd have been sent off v those wankers but I'd actually give him more of a chance of surviving v them now he's actually been carded than if he had hadn't been, if you know what I mean. Will Bob play a Balo friendly system v them though & if he does, will he be wise to, or will he change it anyway back to his 5 in midfield Chelsea type formation?

Cant believe some people dismissing the guy who's just won a match for us. Two goals DEPITE the fact he is very young and still has to learn the English game.

Amazing.

He's both of those things but he's also the nearest thing I've ever seen to a genuine certified mental case in a City shirt. I can't think of another player I've ever seen who looks like he could actually pick a fight with himself & lose.

He's got a problem which needs solving quickly if he's going to play Prem Lg football. Everyone can make excuses & jokes about it but they won't be doing that if he gets sent off half way through the derby or in a big cup/Champ's Lg decider. He's got the world at his feet but we haven't got the time to sort his brain out unless he sorts out most of it himself & quick.

A decision to appeal (but not necessarily not to appeal) should only be taken on the merits of the case.

When he was bought, Mancini was well aware that young Mario was headstrong. If he was aware then, we are now and so is every premier league player, coach and manager. They will be rubbing their hands with glee at the chance of winding him up, getting him sent off and potentially playing a 10 man City whenever they face him. Quite simply, as good as he may be, until he learns about football over here, he is a liability.

He isn't an idiot, he has already identified that the refs (in his words) are leniant and tackling is much harder. He will have to learn that diving and falling over as Bianchi tried, will only get him yellow cards and abuse from fans and opponents.

Since the day he 1st kicked a competitive football in Italy, he has been used to and conditioned to the way things are done in Italy and it may be a while until he gets re-educated to the rules of the Prem.

Manncini and the coaching staff maybe have a bit of a job to control his natural and conditioned behaviour and petulance.

Whatever happens, I WOULDN'T LET HIM ANYWHERE NEAR A DERBY MATCH UNTIL I HAD A SUCCESSFUL STRATEGY WORKED OUT TO PLAY THEM WITH ONLY TEN MEN.

Being young is not a good excuse. He was a crying bay last night. Anyone noticed? After being fouled, he was sitting there still at the ground for 2-3 min like an idiot who didn't want to care for anything in the world. Then after that, he got himself sent off.

I don't want us to appeal anything. Let him learn his lesson. In fact, we should fine him for being stupid, and almost cost us the game.

The papers are saying that if an appeal is successful he can play on Weds. But surely it will be brought down to a yellow at best. 2nd yellow wasn't it? So a one-match ban.

Isn't that right?
