Manchester City willing to offload Carlos Tevez to Real Madrid - if they can sign Wayne Rooney or Fernando Torres
Roberto Mancini eyes top pedigree replacement for unsettled skipper
Manchester City are willing to offload Carlos Tevez next summer if they can sign a suitably high-profile replacement, with Wayne Rooney and Fernando Torres top of their priority list.
Tevez has had a series of bust-ups with City manager Roberto Mancini, who has grown increasingly frustrated with the striker's attitude.
How does Tevez measure up to Rooney and Torres?

Insiders have told Goal.com UK that the striker’s relationship with Mancini is so poor that both parties would welcome a change at the end of the season.
Rooney’s desire to leave Manchester United could pave the way for a huge bid from City for a player who Mancini believes could lead the attack in the same buccaneering style as his former Old Trafford colleague Tevez.
City sources insist that the possibility of an audacious Rooney, 24, offer has only just come on the agenda and has not been formally discussed yet but his availability could be ideal timing given Tevez’s willingness to leave.
However City are also closely-monitoring the situation of Fernando Torres, 26, at Liverpool whom they tried to sign in the summer. The out-of-form Spaniard is expected to leave next year barring a massive turnaround in the team's fortunes.
Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is a big admirer of Tevez and the Bernabeu could provide the next stop-off point in his nomadic career.
It was reported that Mancini and Tevez had a bust-up during City’s 2-1 victory over Newcastle earlier this month but it is understood that was merely the latest in a series of stand-offs involving the pair.
“Mancini and Tevez started having rows at the end of last season,” a City source told Goal.com UK. “Mancini gave him the captaincy to try and smooth over the situation but if anything it has made it worse.
“Mancini knows how to handle big players and he feels Tevez is challenging his authority. He is becoming a problem in the dressing room.”
It is understood the disagreements have centred over Tevez’s unhappiness with the intensity and frequency of Mancini’s training sessions and the Italian’s tactics, which the player views as unnecessarily defensive.
The source added: “When Mancini said in a recent interview that the only target for some of the players is their day off, Tevez was one of the players he had in mind. Mancini demands a lot of his players and feels he could get another five to 10 per cent out of Tevez if he trained harder.”
The 26-year-old native Spanish speaker has learned only sporadic English during his five seasons in England and has spoken of difficulties in motivating himself after the World Cup as well as his own disillusionment with football.
In a recent interview, Tevez said: “I’m an old guy now, and I started to think about some stuff. I have the idea of quitting in my mind. Maybe one of these days, I will just wake up and say no more football.”
Despite his strained relationship with Mancini and his general disillusionment, Tevez is enjoying the most prolific form of his career at Eastlands. He has followed up his 29-goal debut campaign in the blue half of Manchester by scoring a further seven goals this season, including five in his last four games.
Nevertheless, Tevez, who has started all eight of City’s Premier League games as well as three of the club’s four Europa League matches, has complained to an Argentine journalist that he is tired and over-worked.
Although the player is no longer owned by companies belonging to his agent Kia Joorabchian after City paid £47 million for his services in the summer of 2009, there is a growing feeling within the club that he will look to move on at the end of the season.
If he maintains his excellent form, the club will be confident of recouping at least two-thirds of that figure.
City will turn to Rooney or Torres, possibly both if Tevez leaves, as they cast the net for a blue-chip replenishment of the Eastlands striking roster at the end of the season.

SHREK BOLLOX
England striker prepares to force explosive move. City ready to take advantage of turmoil at United Wayne Rooney is increasingly open to the idea of completing the most rancorous and staggering transfer of modern times by leaving Manchester United for Manchester City.
He has informed United he has no intention of signing a new contract and is ready to contemplate following Carlos Tevez's path across Manchester and the potential minefield and recriminations of swapping one club for the other.
Carlos Ancelotti, the Chelsea manager, confirmed today that he would be interested in Rooney if he could establish any sense on the player's part that he would be willing to move to Stamford Bridge. But the reigning Footballer of the Year is leaning more towards City, acutely aware of the potential riches of joining the wealthiest club in England.

I have doubts that he ever said that, if it's true I'd take it as pissing in his own tent more than genuine interest in joining us.

I can see him quitting football entirely or heading off to America.
