Replacement for Ade?

Postby brite blu sky » Fri Aug 27, 2010 1:35 pm

might be jumping the gun here, but IF he is going then we may need a replacement.

Two angles for who you think would do the job?

1 best replacement on offer anywhere?
Milito
Dzeko

2 best English or Prem player on offer?
Agbonlahor
Bent

Playing 1 up front, we need to sign a 3rd striker, not a player who is going to play every week. Whoever comes is gonna have to be happy with not playing very often.

agreed .. unless they were very good. But as you say possibly better to be a super sub or happy to be missing some games.

got any suggestions though?

I think Bent would be a good shout...similar player to Ade and I don't think he would be that arsed about playing week in week out

Whats wrong with Tevez > Balotelli > Jo > Kids (and maybe bellers can be recalled, along with RSC if he goes out on loan)

Don't buy into all this buy someone shite just because they wont play every week. Darren Bent - you can't be for real. Trafford have Berbatov, Rooney and Owen. Adabayor is a lazy overrated twat who realises he can't cut it in this squad and is doing what anyone would do in that position and kicking up a fuss to detract from this and get out before his wage value is affected. What we need is a world class player with integrity who can push Tevez and Bell the telly.

not a great deal wrong with that.. assuming Balotelli settles in quick enough and we dont get injuries. But i take the point very clearly.. it is not critical to get anyone, we probably have enough.
I was thinking though that a half decent prem striker would not be a bad shout, so yes Bent for instance.
Perhaps i would be happier if i thought we could rely on Jo to get going..

Personally I don't think Jo is up to it, I was shocked when he came on instead of Ade against Liverpool. If Ade does o I think we would need a replacement.

Might as well keep RSC then. Or Caicedo. And there's still Jôke...

Completely different player to Ade. Bent plays on the CB's shoulders, looks to get in behind them on to long balls and works the space bettwen the CB's and full backs. He doesn't drop deep and come looking for the ball like Ade and doesn't do link up part of the job either. Totally different players.

I don't think Bent would be suited at all to our style of play. We see far too much of the ball and team's defend far too deep against us for a striker like Bent to get the space that he needs in behind. He's all about pace and running on to long/through balls.

Dzeko is the one we want but with Wolfsburg playing silly buggers I can't see it.

We should break the bank now if that's what's neccessary to get someone imo. Dzeko, Bent, I don't care just a reliable striker. I don't think Adebayor means he wants to leave right now but he looks fucking weird on the pitch, is missing chances from 3 yards & has shown with Arsenal that he can become one of the World's worst forwards if his head's not right. We're gambling if we rely on him.

The comments about us being ok with Tevez, Balotelli, Jo & kids because we're all certain he'll only play 1 are ridiculous I'm afraid. He played Jo AND Adebayor last night you numpties. The whole purpose of all these fucking signings is flexibility of formation. Now we're happy to chuck all that down the toilet? Think about injuries.

If we don't manage to sign anyone we need to get Guidetti on the bench right away & get him some playing time as we may need him.

said it in the other ade thread, but I wouldn't mind crouch.
doesn't moan about not starting every game at spuds. losing him would weaken them.
and he's scored some big goals. i can remember one in particular.
Berbatov wins golden boot, spends following season on the bench while his team loses title on goal difference. Well played, Fergie.

Crouch is essential to Spurs so they won't let him go. Without him they are much easier to stop.

Can't see anything happening now striker-wise. Adebayor needs to switch ON. All the time! can he do that? time will tell, but its too late for anything else coming in.

Cheeky suggestion as it may be, why not make Pool an offer they can't refuse for Torres. He wouldn't mind missing some games, he would miss them anyway when injured in fact, still when he's on form he's surely a world class striker.
