I heard that he got injured in training and had been due to get a run out before the Southport friendly. Heard that City had said they will continue with the trial once he recovers.

How old was he again? I mean is he under 18 so would he become 'homegrown'?
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

ahah, Gai Assulin...I remember that he was one of the best youngsters in FM a couple years ago...

I believe he's 18 now though, but he could still become homegrown, doesn't he have to be here for three years before he turns 21 to do so?

Yeah but in order for anyone to spend three years with us before they turn 21, they'd have to be signed before they turn 18.

9th April 1991 he was born. 19 and a half then. And of course he's Israeli, which is sure to fall foul of some rule or other at some point. And then he's injured - again!

According to some twat the other day, there is something in the rules about three complete seasons including the season in which they turn 21. So it depends when his birthday is and what constitues a "full season" i.e. is it first day or end of the transfer window? I don't know the answer and haven't time to look it up.

Pretty sure he's still an Israeli national. Moved to Spain in 2003.

I think according to Spanish law, you qualify for one after five years working in Spain. Don't know how it is now though.

Also, if I remember correctly there is a Spanish law issued under Franco and never abolished that allows every Sephardite Jew to obtain Spanish nationality if they wish - something like making amends for the expulsion of all jews in 1492. He could well hold both nationalities as of now.
