James Milner.

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Are you sure? Cause I was pretty certain he was playing on the left wing and wouldn't that make him a corner piece? Usually they get put in first.

It was a toss-up between him and Barry for me for Man of the Match, I absolutely fucking loved the way both of them were throwing themselves into tackles and shots.

What a contrast to Ireland's debut for Villa!

in a thread on the villatalk site - I had to laugh:

One poster said something along the lines of:

"...watching Milner playing so well is like coming home and watching your missus screwing someone...."

Someone replied along the lines...

"yes - bur secretly you are enjoyinh it..."

Feeling smug and it's thanks to Milner for backing up my support of him for the last 2 months. Can't follow how anyone expected any different from a quality player. Wait til he settles in and starts scoring.

The thing about Milner is, he rarely drops much below that level these days but if he did, & was struggling badly & it was freezing cold & he had a stomach bug & he was made to play every position on the pitch bar 'his position' ; HE'D STILL FUCKING TRY 100%.

Haha you bastard.
If you look in the "official Milner signs" thread, I changed from being against it to being for it once that £30m valuation was put straight. That was what I was against, because as good as Milner was last night, he still wasn't a £30m player.
Very happy with this signing, and yes I admit I was harsh when I said he's an average player, totally wrong, he was top.

Read somewhere that it was taken down swiftly after Ireland moved to Villa.

Add me to the smug list. Said from the off that Milner was our 'must buy' of this season. You ask him to do something and the guy just fucking does it and does it superbly and with 100% commitment. No moaning. No sulking. Milner is a footballing cyborg sent from the future.

Let's hail for Martin O'Neill's great job if he found immediately his old misunderstanding with ex Villa Barry yesterday!

Outstanding on his debut, a workhorse defensively and offensively with cracking technical quality. Fit in like he'd played at city since he was a 10 year old.

He is going to be a massive player for us this season.

Oh and anyone want Ireland back? Thought not.

The guy puts in 100% effort and I think those who said he has "no footballing brain whatsoever" will end up eating those words IMO.

But its early days as has been mentioned...
