I read almost the exact same story much earlier today stating that he wasn't playing, without a sniff of him "refusing to play", suggesting that it was to protect both parties

Quotes suggestion he has refused to play = 0

Fuck off Sky you wankers.

I don't rate the lad one bit, there's more chance of Lucas hurting us tonight than him, but if reports of him refusing to play are true, it's not realy the sort of thing any footall fan should applaud. If he's sitting this out tonight then I'd say it was safe to assume that he has refused to play.

They've got a better player in Puolsen to replce him anyway imo. I'll get slaughtered for that but I do not rate Mascherano one iota and never haver.

You're kidding. You can not rate Mascherano all you want, but Poulsen is just a poor version of the same model. Ask the Italians around here what they think of him. Crap player who's only good at kicking the opposition off the park. And not even as good as Mascherano in that regard.

As for the refusing to play bit. It can be twisted any way you want, but in the end it's standard procedure if everyone involved wants the deal to go through immediately.

Yep, as I said, I'll get slaughtered for this. I just think that Mascherno is a seriously limited footballer, the most overrated in the world imo.

Poulsen being a better player may have been taking things to far but he's a player I rate and I suppose we'll see tonight how good he is.

I've no idea how De Jong's tackle was a foul then.

Glad he wasnt there on reflection. The midfield was much more open for us to dominate and Nige and Gareth pretty much did that. Also, it allowed Yaya acres of spaces in which to shift the ball from side to side. Yaya was able to play in first gear for most of the match. Liverpool brought no pressure in that area of the pitch without Mascherano.
