Man City will still pay £2.5m of Bellamy's wages
Manchester City will still pay Craig Bellamy a staggering £2.5 million in wages this season - despite getting him out of Roberto Mancini's hair with a move to Cardiff City.
Moneybags City made the move to the Championship side possible as Dave Jones's money men are only paying around £1 million of his wages for the rest of the campaign.
The astonishing move, first revealed by Mirror Sport in May, only went ahead because City are willing to take up around 75 per cent of his £90,000-a-week salary.
Cardiff came up with the funds when City cleared them to speak to the Welshman and Bellamy was happy to follow his heart after Tottenham failed to come to an agreement over a full-time move.
City told Bellamy last week that they did not want him back after his outbursts against Mancini. Spurs were the only buyers in the nine-club race, but they could not sort out a fee with their Premier League rivals.
Now City are willing to subsidise the Cardiff move to a staggering degree. And the Manchester billionaires will also face the prospect of Bellamy returning for them in the summer - he still has two years left on his lucrative contract.
Bellamymania will help out Cardiff, whose new owners have been late with the monthly salaries since they arrived and started to pick up old bills.
Their gates will rise and TV money is bound to increase because of the interest Bellamy will cause. Cardiff will have to pay City a promotion bonus if they go up, but the extra cash -- around £1 million - would be a drop in the ocean.

Barcelona have invited Manchester City to make a sensational move for Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The Swedish striker's future remains in doubt following the arrival of David Villa from Valencia earlier this summer.
Ibrahimovic, who signed from Barcelona last summer, scored 21 goals in 36 matches for the Catalan giants last season.
City are said to be interested in speaking to Barcelona regarding a move for the 28-year-old, with Roberto Mancini hell-bent on spending millions to create a title-winning team this season.
Having spent over £100m this summer, Mancini has now been told to put his money where his mouth is regarding a move for striker Ibrahimovic.
Barcelona sporting vice president Josep Maria Bartomeu said: "To leave Barcelona, City will have to put money on the table - an option they have not taken up so far."talkSPHITE

STEPHEN Ireland will have to wait until his birthday on Sunday for a claret and blue debut at Newcastle after Villa decided against rushing him into Europa League action in Vienna.
Ireland will formally complete his move to Villa today on a four-year deal – but will not jet off with Kevin MacDonald’s squad today or join them in Austria for tomorrow’s tie against Rapid.
Instead, the Manchester City midfielder will be allowed a couple of days to settle into the Midlands and find accommodation for his young family following his acrimonious Eastlands exit.
Ireland arrives at Villa Park as a £8 million makeweight in the club’s record sale of £26 million-rated James Milner with Villa also receiving £18 million cash from City for the England star.
Both midfielders said their goodbyes yesterday and were booked in for medicals at their new clubs last night with a view to the protracted deal hopefully being concluded by midday today.
The transfer, which has rumbled on since May, hit another slight hitch when Milner’s examination at Bridgewater Hospital was put off until this morning because of a long queue for a scan.
Villa could still select Ireland for Europa League duty tomorrow night with clubs allowed to substitute one player in the original 25-man squad up to 24 hours before kick off. Birmingham Mail
