Good to hear Nigel is still practising his shooting. If at first you dont succeed........................

Are fans allowed to just go and watch training then, if i wanted to get a ball signed would it be better to go to carrington(if so whats the schedule? do they train everyday and from what time?) or is it better to just go stand outside the ground a few hours before a match and push kids out of the way when they arrive.

I have no idea about getting a ball signed at COMS but if you try it at Carrington you might be lucky you might not. Usually at training around the fence they don't do much signing of anything although today they did some. They are told not to stop at the entrance gate for safety reasons but sometimes they do. I suppose it might be possible to take a ball to the gate and ask for it to get signed but I don't know what the reaction would be. Certainly it wouldnt be done there and then but if you were happy to wait a couple of weeks it might get done

Douglas Higginbottom.....have you been talking to the press??

Stevie Ireland was said to be “distraught” after being banned from training with the Manchester City first team on Monday.

The midfielder, whose demands for a £2m severance payment have held up a player-plus-cash deal for Aston Villa’s James Milner, was forced to work with the City reserves instead.

The club take the view that it doesn’t signify a breakdown in relationships with the player, and is just a result of Ireland not being named in City’s 25-man Europa league squad.

Ireland emerged from the Carrington training complex 15 minutes ahead of the rest of the squad, alongside first team coach David Platt.

Platt spoke to him and an onlooker said Ireland looked “distraught and was left scratching his head”.

After a ten-minute chat, Platt placed his arm around the player and walked to the reserves’ training pitch and left him there, to be joined by the second-string.

“He looked a bit embarrassed training with the reserves and was certainly not whole-hearted, not surprising as he was player of the year just two years ago” said the onlooker.

Craig Bellamy was also banned from training with the first team and has been allowed to remain at his South Wales home this week. He may train with Championship side Cardiff City, as he has previously when recuperating from injuries, and has reportedly been offered the captaincy to join the Bluebirds on a six-month loan.

Robinho also did not join first team training yesterday, although he is believed to have been given a light workout indoors.

The Brazilian, who has been linked with Turkish clubs Fenerbahce and Besiktas, has not had a break over the summer, returning from Brazil’s World Cup campaign to complete the domestic season on loan with Santos.

He then joined up with Brazil again for the international friendly in the USA last week before returning to City on Thursday.

The picture with that article is very upsetting. David fucking Pratt tells Superman to play with the reserves. Oh how the world turns...

Not sure mate. I was under the impression it was a case of Ireland/his agent saying 'if you want me to go you will have to pay me' rather than it being something he is contractually entitled to.

How come Milner is playing for Villa, Mascerano is playing for Liverpool, Robinho is back & apparently training soon as is Jo & RSC but Ireland & Bellamy are treated like lepers?

Imo it's because both have turned down part ex deals & we're trying to force them to accept.

2 things.
No I haven't been talking to the press ( yes I know you were joking)
Second I believe the whole story and especially the picture that Platt told Stevie, on the field and with an arm around his shoulder, to go and train with the reserves is complete garbage.

At training on thursday last week Ireland was with the first team and everything was sort of normal. The next day I went along I think I reported that Ireland was out first but headed acroos to join the reserves. No sign of Platt at all. In fact the reserves always tend to come out a good few minutes before the first team and Ireland came out with a couple of the reserves I would say 15 minutes at least before any of the first team and before Platt was sighted. It's a typical storyline used by some crap publication and they have used a picture of Platt with Ireland to do it.It's disappointing that too many fans will believe it happened like that.

I suspected as much with the Platt thing but it's not normal that players who are leaving are made to train with the reserves is it?

I am not sure Ted although I can see the pros and cons. I don't suppose it's very normal to "know" about a transfer days or even weeks before it happens so the situation doesnt often arise. I seem to recall Lescott getting the same at Everton before he came to us.

That's what I feel is wrong though Doug, Lescott was getting the 'naughty boy' treatment for allegedly talking to City. Don't understand why it's neccessary other than as punishment or to make the player uncomfortable so he'll go. Milner, Mascherano & Co are still playing for their teams.
