Two questions

Are we seeded?

and

Who are the big guns we need to look out for?

Liverpool, Juventus, Stuttgart, Olympiakos, are the teams that could present us with problems. I believe we can not be drawn against another seeded team.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Wake me up in February when it gets to the knockout stages.

We are favourites to win this competition at 6/1 btw.

Is there a rule in place at this stage to prevent us from drawing a team from the same country or is it just a free for all?

Check this LINK to see the seeding for Europa League play-off round. We are seeded, there shouldn't be any problem in reaching the group stage.
Roberto Mancini was the man who brought us our first trophy in 35 years. He was the man that brought us our first league title in 44 years. He brought us one of the greatest moments of our lives. He masterminded a 6-1 win at Old Trafford, and a Wembley win over United. He challenged Ferguson, he argued with him on the touchline, he brought success, and he punched the air in delight with the rest of us at the madness of it all. He had style, panache and a winning smile. All those memories he gave us will never be forgotten, in a wonderful period in this club’s long history.
And I swear, we’ll never see anything like it again.

Hope we get a home draw first on 19th.

I booked to go away to Spain for a few days on Tuesday 24th after the Liverpool game after arguing balack and blue with the wife that we were not going away before the game. Clean forgot we'll have a Europa League game 26th!! Mind you Getafe is only 4 hours drive from where we're going...............

I was looking yesterday for a list of teams, seedings and what pots (if there are any) for the draw, and I drew a mahoosive blank.... has anyone else had better luck?

It'd be nice to see who we could face so that I can look at flights hotels etc for the away leg before the prices of flights go up which they inevitably will do within hours of the draw being made.

It'd be interesting to know who we won't get drawn against also..... any help is appreciated, ta in advance :-)

EDIT: The above looks to answer my question.... but how does the draw work for the play-off, do we get drawn against an un-seeded team? And I presume for the group stages, we'd be drawn against 1 team from each of the other 3 pots?

I wouldn`t under estimate CSKA Moscow especially away NQDP.

For the play-off round it'll be quite simple: seeded vs unseeded

For the group stage, UEFA says
The 37 play-off winners are joined by holders Club Atlético de Madrid and the ten losing teams from the UEFA Champions League play-offs to make up the 48 clubs that go into the group-stage draw at the Grimaldi Forum.

The 48 sides are split into four seeding pots based on UEFA's coefficient system, with one from each drawn into the 12 groups. No team can meet another from the same association. Once the draw has been completed a computer draw will determine the final position of the sides within their group and therefore the order of the home and away matches.

in the co-efficient list not all those teams have yet qualified.. Galatasaray for instance play on thursday and have only a 2-1 lead from their home game.

check the wikipedia.. has a clear view of stages, but no seeding info

Missed them. Although that away trip is doable in august. In winter it's extremely tough trip for anyone.

This is fourth and final qualifying stage. Why would Villa go anywhere before us? They finished below us.

Why can't i get excited about this cup competition? It just seems a load of shit teams from far flung places around Eastern Europe fuck about for a few months until the shit teams from the CL drop into it. I'll start going when we get to the quarter finals, like a proper 'jonny'!
