Well IMO, the problem is with one word in the opening post by Gillie

If you keep picking "Stars" that may well be the problem. What you need is a team, and players who gel together, and that may come from one or two being outside the top flight who are used to scrapping in the Championship?

If he never wears the 3 lions again, I will be happy.

I'm waiting for the "i missed little Wayne so much I just couldn't concentrate on football"

I keep hearing that being bored was a factor. Well fuck me I would happily be bored for £100,000 a week, sat in a 7 Star hotel and playing football everyday....don't know they are born the Wankers!!

er.. sturridge? I reckon he'll be at the next world cup

Johnson, if he keeps his head down (and I can't see why not) and learns his trade, is a shoo-in for a lengthy career as an international wide man.

Sturridge needs some proper pitch time, but, if he shines in a Chelsea shirt, he will also make the grade.

Richards needs to be looked at again, given Glen Johnson's lack of defensive nous at the age of 25.

Onouha could force himself into a more prominent position, if he can get and keep a spot in your first 11.

I'd throw into the ring Zavon Hines at West Ham, simply for his present turn of pace. He's not the finished article, by a long way, and has had another fairly serious injury requiring surgery, but there's something about him that makes me think he's got a chance.

I wonder where Matt Derbyshire would be on the England radar, if he had stayed in the Prem...

I noticed that on one of the many places I visit on the net that a Sunderland fan had listed Jordan Henderson as a player to make the step up. Now we have Hines from a West Ham fan.

At least we at City aren't the only ones who are blind when it comes to our own lads.

I thought Hines said he wanted to play for one of the carribean islands, or was it Stanislaus?... Or was I dreaming up the whole thing Walmai?

Stanislas is London born, as much as I can't tell you from where his family may originate.

But, they're both capped U-21 in the last 12 months.

However, as much as he's had the odd flash of skill, Stanislas isn't imho future England material at senior level.

England need a manager who is brave enough to pick a TEAM and not just the best ten players around.
Witness Alf Ramsey and Jimmy Greaves
Witness the failure to stop playing Gerrard and Lampard together...

Lampard is 32, Gerrard 30. This issue will resolve itself.

Probably too young a team for anyone in the England heirachy to have the balls to go with but we have two years to plan for the Euros then a further two years before the next World Cup in Brazil, playing at altitude and in 100 degrees (Waste of time England turning up for that one) so the lads above could get plenty of experience.

Good shout

Maybe Gibbs instead of Bains and Wiltshire in there as well
