Pearce would be in for Palermo if he was stiil our manager.

What the fuck have the Greeks been trying to achieve in this game? It makes no sense.

I think their idea was to hope for a Nigeria win and snake a draw against the Argies, at one point I swear they were playing a 6-3-1 formation.

Do have to say that I enjoy watching the Argies. Will struggle at the back against better teams but they have an excellent front line and the best player in the WC so far in Messi.

Got thoroughly sick of McCarthy whining about how Messi should be subbed to save him, marked by 2 players for 80 mins and still the most productive player on the pitch. No he didn't score 5 goals thick Mick but his close control was the only good thing in the first 80 mins.

I actually thought Samaras did pretty well tonight, gave demichelis loads of trouble and lead the line well

Best bit about it was the Beeb's aftermatch conversation about England - twitchy trying to plug Lennon and Hansen shutting him down in midstride. Hansen now has my permission to be a whining whinging old git for the rest of the tournament after that little beauty.

Wouldn't have been such a great move if he'd turned his ankle over though.

The entire Greek team only completed one more pass than Veron tonight, bit of a random fact for you.
