Frank Sidebottom RIP

Postby frannylee » Mon Jun 21, 2010 8:46 pm

Frank Sidebottom (Chris Sievey) has died aged 54 after battling against cancer

http://www.guardian.co.uk/stage/2010/ju ... ievey-dies

I remember trying to introduce Frank to the people of Hong Kong via a Sunday lunchtime radio show which I presented in the late 80's - needless to say, they could not get their heads round him !!!!

I was hoping my 1,000th post would have been a bit more upbeat :-(

RIP Frank

Was it on 'Radio Timperley'?

To be truthful mate, I couldn't stand the comedy he portrayed, but then again, people probably feel the same of me. I found it strange that if he was on TV, I couldn't help but watch. Massive respect as a Blue though, and he was proud to show it.

RiP Frank, that head will live with me forever, you Madchester you!

Awwww, RIP fella. I have a 22 track CD of him singing City songs. Funny as feck, Uvaaaaaaaaaaay, Uwe Ross-er-la being the obvious highlight.

Absolute legend and true gent. I used to listen to him as a teenager on Piccadily on jim reeves show, then saw him several times over the years and got a load of his EPs. He was a great bloke and always had time for photos and a chat. RIP Frank and all the puppets. You bought joy to your thousands of followers. There are many that will miss you.

He was listed to play at the Leigh Folk Festival this weekend. I was going to take my 4 year old son down to watch him,. I think he'd have loved him. Sad sad news.
