Should have brought Joe Cole on.
If you're gonna bring SWP on bring him on to replace that useless tosser Lennon.

It looked to me like he was dying to bomb forward but was under instructions to keep the shape in midfield. Saying that tho' I thought he showed more than Milner and lennon.

Don't know how you can judge Milner lol.
He was on 30 mins and was booked, he's another temperamental player like Rooney we have.
I really think England are missing Barry.

Lennon is the same as that fucking walcot...one dimensional - both can run and........well that's it.

shame he didn't put his foot straight through it with that chance he had. When it fell to him on his right I thought it was a certain goal.

Apart from that he was above average first half, average at best 2nd half.

I think SWP did the job he was asked to do pretty well ie.the defensive part of the game to control their right flank which Milner wasnt doing.
Going forward we saw quite a bit of the SWP we know where he wanted to run at people but rean into them .His effort was good and he was involved in a few good things. All in all , especially as he was on the left he did ok and I reckon Capello would have been happy with him.

when he came on, they showed a close up of him telling someone what he had been ordered to do. To me it seemed like he was brought on to take their right winger out of the game and probably help Cole on the overlapping. That role he did reasonably well. And while he didn't do anything magical, he was more usefull than Milner and Lennon put together.

All in all, solid seven for me.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

You are joking?

Young horse jaw was getting ripped a new arsehole down that flank, that's why he copped for a yellow and why Capello took him off.

Swp would have been far more effective on the right than Lennon.Lennon looks great in full flight trying to beat someone but his allround game is average at best.Still feel Fabio made a mistake leaving Johnson at home,he would have been ideal tonight on the left. The team had no balance against the usa and i think they need Barry back in straight away once hes fit and ready to play.

Shaun did his best out of position. He's rarely effective on the left as the past has proven.

Looking at Engand today, i think Capello has lost the plot. He's fallen into the classic england manager mentality of putting square pegs in round holes.

Played a lot better on the left than he ever has for us, why the gaffer didn't just swap Lennon and SWP I don't know as Lennon is more used to playing on the left. Thought he did well for the most part but will always try to cut inside and be in danger of running into trouble, ten times better than Milner though

Sorry gents he was awful. He gave the ball away every time he got in and fluffed his big chance.

Really poor imo.

Agree showed the stupidity of not taking a left footed winger ie. Johnson

Thought SWP was poor.

SWP was put there to do a job, which he did. Whatever fans think, Capello will be happy with him as he did exactly what he was supposed to do & he did a better job than Milner or Lennon.

His miss at the end showed a weakness in his game which is evident at City, (along with his shit crossing) & imo is unforgiveable, as he has the talent to have sorted out the faults in his game & solved them. The only reason he hasn't is because he swanned off to Chelsea & learned how to dive instead of improving his game. It's his own fault that he's not a better player.

This.Spot on.

i tend to disagree with Ted about his shot.. yes he should have buried it.. instead he played safe.. over conscious of making 'mistakes'.. like perhaps all the England players were apart from Gerrard (who looked relaxed). SWP is a bit inconsistent but i would say no more than a lot of other wingers. He can and has buried shots like that on many occasions and sometimes with total conviction and venom. I dont see it as a particular weakness in his game.
As fans we expect everything to be perfect it seems..
