James made his England debut in '97. Seaman was still #1 for '98 & '02 & Sven picked Robinson for '06.

It's hardly that shocking.

Not got a problem with Heskay starting, I hope he plays. Rooney is by far our biggest threat and he plays far better with Heskey than with anyone else. The partnership worked superbly for us in qualification and I think Capelo will go with it unless he plays 4-5-1.

Or a 4-4-1-1 with Gerrard off the shoulder of Rooney.

Aye, the pundits view is that this offers us our best chance of success. I'm not so sure. Rooney gets frustrated and doesn't produce his best when he feels isolated. The plus side is that it means we can get Cole and SWP/Lennon in the side and have a bit more width. Not got a strong view either way, I hope we go 4-4-2 and if we do, I think he should and will play Heskey.

I didn't actually disagree with the statement - I just found it surprising that a Keeper with the experience of David James hasn't ever played in the World Cup. It's something I'd never really thought about, before.

I guess my thought is that Lampard and Gerrard will both be playing and we better have a system that allows us to get the best out of both of them, pushing Gerrard wide I think will neuter him and probably denies us the pace of Lennon and Cole.

Milner a slight suprise after his illness this week, Green slightly less so. Come on England! (9 out of 11 isn't bad!!)

No Hart, SWP or Barry huh?

You kind of suck at picking teams, at least you got the other 8 right.

It's not me that sucks, it's that Italian chap!

Green, Johnson, Terry, Lampard, Gerard and Heskey shouldn't be in England shirts.

You'll be singing his praises in 90 minutes....except for the Heskey selection, the commentators here said Heskey makes his teammates play better. No shit, they have to do the work of 11 men.
